Sounds like you and I were on the same wavelength. I'm curious to ask the last time you sent an email along.

Would appreciate thoughts on the following: I got waitlisted for a program in early March. I followed up with a few emails back and forth to express my thanks and ask some questions about the program. I then sent a letter of continued interest via email on 03/31. I'm still waiting to hear a final decision, and I know that it may not come until very near or on the deadline. My question is when it feels appropriate to send one more email. A part of me thinks maybe on 04/08, a week from the deadline, but perhaps 04/10 or 04/11 is better? I realize that I'm probably overthinking this a bit, but I want to be consistent and persistent with the program to show them that I'm serious and would accept in a heartbeat without being annoying.

I feel you. Eight rejections, one pending, and one waitlist. Just putting my positivity out there that waitlists come through for those of us who are still in limbo.

I'm in a similar place, with five rejections, one waitlist, and four pending. But you never know! A waitlist could turn into an acceptance at any time. I'm trying to remain optimistic, and I wish the best for you as well.

I've gotten four rejections and one waitlist so far, and I'm still waiting on five more decisions. I'm kind of shocked I still haven't heard from half of the programs I applied to, and I know I'll probably hear from all of them by the end of the month. I've been really detached these past three and a half months, and getting four rejections in a row really helped me stay busy with other things and not think too much about it all. But now with a waitlist, I'm absolutely itching to hear back from the rest. I need decisions. 🤣

Thanks for your response. I don't use social media in the first place (this account was the exception, if we count this site as social media in the first place), and I usually try to disengage with this sort of process, since it feels like I could be doing anything else with my time other than worrying about results that are now out of my hands.

Could someone state briefly what is shared in the draft group? I'm curious, but based on what is shared, it might be better for my mental health not to join. 😆

Best of luck to you! I know going from fine art bfa to creative writing mfa is easily accepted, but I know nothing about the track from fine art mfa to creative writing phd. I don't imagine they'd be totally against you, but the competition must be pretty darn fierce. I know the distinction between an mfa and a phd, but could you share with me a little about the difference when applied to creative writing programs?

So as not to repeat the excellent replies of others, I'll be brief and share my own experience. I have a fine art bfa, and two of my recommenders are my undergrad art professors. Both were enthusiastic and willing to write me letters. A handful of programs want your recommenders to speak to your writing experience (both professors know my writing despite being fine artists), but most importantly the recommender should speak to the quality of your person. With the excellent grades you mentioned above, I can't see why this professor would even cite your transcripts as a factor. Personally, if I was in your shoes, that professor would be receiving a respectful but poignant response from me as to why their actions and message to your are unprofessional and a total breach of trust. To have the nerve to stomp on someone's dreams AND leave them high and dry without your recommendation so late in the game is unacceptable. Add my name to the list of folks who are rooting for you. ❤️

Thank you for your response. I see you have a shorthand list beneath your messages of your previous years applying, and if I'm reading them correctly, it looks like you got accepted to programs both previous times. May I ask why you aren't attending and are still applying now?
