Ngl I feel a bit lost again because I hadn't looked at the spreadsheet in the Facebook group for AWHILE until today, when I didn't receive an email from VCU. Every time I am banking on hearing from a school, I hear from a different one, or it's just complete silence lol. I am excited for my Waitlist at Temple, but I have the same reservations about "did everyone get the same 'high on the ranked waitlist' email? So I still have my fingers crossed as I would love to attend if it's funded!! It was validating as a fiction writer to get a waitlist this year, regardless. I also saw Notre Dame started interviews, so I may not be up for that anymore, but who knows. Either way, still waiting to hear from 6 more schools... I have tentatively been rejected from 5 of 11 schools I applied to, with three not sending out a formal rejection yet lol. Congrats to everyone who has been waitlisted and accepted this month!! Hoping for more good news for everyone!!

That's such a good show to binge. I watched Gilmore Girls and Maxton Hall. If anyone is in the Facebook workshop group on Messenger, an extension of MFA Draft '26 we are doing a writing sprint tonight 5pm EST to 8pm EST. We are holding more sprints this month but so far that is the first one scheduled.

I assumed "email" meant the notification email to check the portal, so I think you're fine. You can always email or call grad admissions to ask if it's a ranked or unranked waitlist. Usually, the portal is updated first, I think.

I doubt they send emails on the weekends. I heard everything is up on the portal before emails are generated, typically, so if you're going to check anything.

I'm sorry you're bedridden! But that's awesome, you had that many acceptances. Thanks for the insight. What made you want to pursue a PhD after completing a manuscript at Vandy? Is your goal to be more so be a professor rather than a published author? I'd love to know about your journey with that, and if you also applied to numerous PhD programs and had a similar application season experience.

This is great to know. Congrats on getting into Vandy during another season -- can I ask which schools you had applied to? That's awesome that you got 7 acceptances and had options. What did you do to pass the time until the big domino in March?

At least for interview selection, today is the first/only day for the 2026 cycle that people seem to be hearing from Amherst. Last year, someone reported it the next day also. So I assume today and tomorrow for Amherst interview notifs based off the spreadsheet data. Does anyone know how to tell which schools do interviews, vs. the ones that don't? I didn't realize that was a thing for some schools

Maybe try calling a grad admissions person to ask? I think in the portal, they assign you someone to contact related to grad school admissions -- depending on the school. They can also probably let you know more specifics about it, too.

Is anyone else starting to get nightmares that they sent in the wrong draft of their creative sample with horrible typos and their favorite lines deleted LOL -- I need to hear from at least one school within the next week... all the data from the past year's results seem to be pointing to the first week of February and beyond for decisions... pray for my dreams

What kind of lit mags/publications do people apply for? I was screenwriting before switching to fiction in undergrad, so I haven't submitted to lit mags before, but I had submitted to film festivals and screenwriting comps in previous years

I heard there was a spreadsheet to see application acceptances/rejections/waitlists through this forum and the FB MFA Draft Group, but I don't see the spreadsheet that some users spoke about - does anyone know where that is?

It only lets me in on the notification bar in FB. For some reason when I searched or reloaded the page it wouldn't let me view it. But in the notifications part it let me click into it for some reason so I guess I am in!!

To distract myself from MFA applications, I decided to finish the next draft of my manuscript.

Alright, I have completed all my applications... and I am not on Facebook, but is there a link to a different group, or do people primarily migrate here? I applied to these: Stanford Stegner Fellowship, Johns Hopkins, WashU St. Louis, Vanderbilt, Brown, UVA, Temple, UMass Boston, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, and VCU. Anyone else? It seems quiet in the forum, but it's my first time applying, so let's ramp it up or start a writing group to keep us sane while waiting for results. P.S. I also like the spirit of planning a trip -- Italy?
