  1. If you don't mind saying, how/where did you look for places? Craigslist? The schools campus housing site? Thanks!
  2. Hey! I'm going to be going to UW-Madison next year for the PhD program in organic chemistry. I'm excited to get to know other people going there too!

Hey everyone, Planning on going to UW-Madison next year, and am currently looking online for apartments. I'm going for the Chemistry Ph.D. program, and see a lot of people suggesting the Old University area for science people; but I'm not really sure what street area's this entails. Also, I'm finding a lot of promising-looking options in Middleton, is this a bikable/busable area to get to campus? Thanks!
  4. Has anyone that interviewed at Scripps the first weekend heard back? I haven't gotten any word and am getting somewhat nervous, since it seemed that they implied they would be letting people know very soon after the weekend...
  5. No I didn't, from reading the responses on here I had figured that no news was bad news. But today I got an e-mail from Alix Lamia letting me know that I had been selected for it.
  6. Got an e-mail from Columbia today letting me know I'm on the waitlist. Does anyone know what are the chances that they'll need to use it? I figure that its a very slim chance...
  7. Just got the rejection notice from MIT, had me log onto their page to view my results.
  8. Got an "acceptance" e-mail 2 days ago from University of Wisconsin-Madison, telling me that they're interested in having me and are forwarding my application to the Graduate office. They have visiting weekends the 25-27 of Feb and 11-13 of March.
  9. I also got a call from Scripps, the first one around the 22nd letting me know about being invited to the interviews, and then another call on the 27th from one of the prof's I mentioned wanting to work with telling me the same thing, and then got the e-mail detailing all the info. Talking to the first person who called me (I forget his name, but says he has been on the admissions committee for a number of years) but he said that if you're invited for an interview, unless you do something pretty stupid you have a very good chance of getting in.
  10. In the same boat here, nothing has been added. I figure they're just being slow about updating anything.
  11. Suppose I'll respond too. GRE: 800Q, 670V, 4.5A GRE Chem: 790 GPA: 3.68, 3.89 in chemistry Research since summer after sophomore year, preparing manuscript now and presented a poster at a conference this past summer, honors thesis this year Applying to Scripps, MIT, Harvard, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Caltech, and Columbia for O-chem (preferably physical organic) And I have to agree, definitely don't feel as secure in my chances after seeing all of these!
