Woo! Got into the University of Arkansas. I was left off the waitlist and need to give a decision by April 15. I'm still waiting to hear from two schools who likely won't have answers until/after then. Scary!

Wishing you all the best! My gripes are with the grad coordinator. She never responded to my emails before, during and after I applied. I just don't get why she's the main point of contact if she won't respond to applicants. I'm glad you liked the faculty!!

Same here. I looked UIC up on here and I've seen others just never hearing from them either way. I may reach out though and see what's up

Applying to art school is wild. If the 3 waitlisted schools aren't able to open a spot I'll apply next year, but definitely eye opening for what schools I will/won't apply to again based on my experience with them. Really disappointed by U of A for the complete lack of communication. Seems like a shit show there anyways (I work at the U)

Any advice for strengthening my position on a waitlist? I got waitlisted at 2 schools, really want UMN, would be happy to go to UW Madison, would take caution to go to UArk due to the state politics, but liked the professors a lot.

They said all interviews happened last week? So lame cause their communication has been so bad.

Happy for you. I really want it to work out this cycle, since this is my first time applying. But if it doesn't work out, I can decide to try again with a more clear image, like you said, for next year. I hope everything works out for you this year. Congrats on the payoff for your hard work.

That's great! I applied as an interdiscplinary artist too. Bummed I haven't heard back. I'm currently in Tucson. Nice lineup with U Oregon. Also haven't heard back from them. Hope you get the results you want!!

I haven't. The grad coordinator has never responded to me, before applying, during and after applying. Seems like a red flag to me. I just looked at the results page on here and saw someone had an interview with Studio Art but didn't specify what discipline.

Not sure how to feel about this. I interview with three schools and got waitlisted at all of them. I only applied to the fully funded programs that are very small. I'm not sure if I should feel sad or proud of myself, since I didn't go to art school, and I am mostly self-taught/created my work through DIY community. It is what it is. At least it's not a flat out no. I guess I'm still waiting to hear back from 3 more schools.

I think mine says the same, which is probably normal. The schools that I got waitlisted at still say "under review by department." Schools where it's only crickets so far, the portal says "Submitted."

Lamentablemente no. Es difícil ponerse en contacto con el coordinador de graduados. Trabajo en la universidad y todavía no he tenido noticias de ella. Busqué en Reddit y otros solicitantes tampoco han tenido noticias de Arizona.

Just got my notifcation that I'm waitlisted at Minnesota. Thats 2 waitlists, 2 rejections, and still waiting to hear from 4 other schools. Damn. Wanted to be accepted.

I'd try to not overthink it too much. Whatever feels right to you. It won't make or break your result, in the end, thank you emails are a curtesy. But I like to send them as a way to communicate my interest and appreciation. If I really liked the team I feel more inclined to do it, as a way to extend connection or something.

I'd still send the email, and mention both! I've done that before. For a recent one I noticed the third member's email wasn't in my original thread, so I googled his name and found his listed university email. Probably oldschool programming as a millenial from my boomer parents, but I do send thank you emails after each interview.

Is it bad to not hear from a school a little over 2 weeks after the interview? Still waiting to hear from U of Minnesota. There's a lot going on in Minneapolis, obviously, but it's my number one and I am dying to hear!

Thanks for the thoughtful response. My ego really wants to get in this year, since I'm self taught, in my early 30s, and haven't gone to art school before. So I feel like I'm giving it my all this year. But I suppose worse comes to worse, it wouldn't be bad to try again next year. We will see. So far I haven't heard back from my number 1 after a good interview, so holding out hope. I think it's cool you decided to give it another go, holding what you value most in mind.
