can anyone weigh in on waitlists? i’m waitlisted at my top choice and accepted to my second choice. both are april 15 signees but i’m reading info on draft about final decisions coming after and even long after apr 15. what is best practice if you’re still waitlisted on apr 15?

looks like there is one UW Seattle fiction acceptance call on draft. if they really are only accepting 2-3 per genre, then i’m going take this as a rejection! at this point in the process i’m just looking for closure

fyi the post ended up being a bit misleading but after the poster said that they sent an email asking about their own application status, it wasn’t an email sent to general applicants, just a personal response to their question

It made me wonder if they sent it to people who are for sure going to be accepted/waitlisted when decisions come out?

uw prose applicants — someone on draft said they got an email saying uw hoped to release prose decisions within the next week or so. i applied for prose but didn’t get this email. any other uw seattle prose applicants get it?

does anyone have insight/experience on why programs wait to deliver rejections until a while after acceptances/waitlists go out? understandably, there is a lot of movement with waitlists and acceptances, but (correct me if i am wrong) a rejection seems set in stone. so what is the rationale behind waiting to send them?

i’m taking the silence as a rejection. judging from last year’s draft, they sent rejections almost 10 days after acceptances.

anyone know if are they staggering genres? i see one fiction acceptance on the spreadsheet but the rest of the decisions are poetry
