UO is pausing their MFA program for next year. 😭 I’m so sad. I really didn’t want to move, but I’m looking forward to going to Arizona!

I’m so sorry that was your experience. I had a different experience with them. They did tell me they cut their cohort next year by 1/2-2/3 and only accepted a couple people (3 I think?) Their faculty seems really great and I’m heavily leaning toward excepting their offer. I’m only waiting to hear back from three more schools I interviewed for before making it official.

Just missed a call from CalArts dean of the college of art. Guessing if they’re calling it’s an acceptance? Anyone else? Should I call back or wait for an email? lol. (He didn’t leave a message for some reason). edit: seemed to be an unofficial acceptance. (Wanted to let you know you were amazing in your interview and faculty are excited about your work. I wanted to save you some sleep let you know official acceptances are going out next Friday).

Yes! I interviewed. I applied just for general studio art but the photography/video professors were essentially the only ones in the interview so I think that’s the path they would want me on.

Impatiently awaiting Arizona. Lol. The grad head did email me last night about setting up a visit, so fingers crossed I get an offer soon. 🤞🏽

I haven’t heard back yet. I really felt good about the interview tho! I’m flying to Tucson at the end of March to check out the town because I’ve never been there before and want to make sure it’s a good fit if they do accept me. 🤞🏽 I’ve also interviewed for 6 other places, other than Oregon, Arizona was my favorite.

I specifically interviewed for photography/video/imaging. They gave me about six interview slots to choose from, so I don’t think they interviewed many ppl.

It’s interdisciplinary, so all the MFA studio art people would be my guess.

They were on Friday. Most schools do them all at once.

It’s so anxiety inducing because they were my first interview back in January. Lol. So the amount of time between then and now makes me second and third and forth guess myself. Lol. Just tell me one way or the other!

Finally made an account to comment on this forum. Im an interdisciplinary artist so I don’t have a single discipline I applied for—I’ve done sculpture, new genre, print, art/tech, etc. It just depended what program felt like it would fit my interdisciplinary installation based work. Here’s my MFA stats so far: interviews: U Oregon U Arizona UT Austin uiowa uwashington Seattle calarts pnca (offer) rejections: yale northwestern (one of my recommenders Alma mater) awaiting response: tulane UC Berkeley UCSD UCLA Columbia (one of my recommenders Alma mater)
