well, 5pm has come and gone, and no requests. Do you think they're done sending them out for this year? At this point, i'd rather just know definitively and move on, rather than obsessing about it for the next few days.
In past years, there have been transcript requests a few days after a first wave of requests. So it isn't over (just yet)... SSRC's history tells us next week is still a possibility.

Yeah, I know it's not likely -- but on the other hand, someone has to be those 80... why not us?
Very true!
I looked at threads from previous years (GradCafe and the Academic Jobs wiki) -- transcript requests for those who advanced to the short list/final round should be next week, with rejection letters via snail mail over the next few weeks. Good luck everyone!

A funded PhD program means funding for any student accepted to the program, regardless of nationality/citizenship.

Received my letter this afternoon in Boston... successful! Such a relief and a great boost of confidence going into comps tomorrow

Sorry despejo, hopefully you'll hear good news soon!
Good Luck today, Safferz. I hope the donkey cart arrives with good news!
Thanks! Hopefully there's something in my mailbox when I head home at 4... but the realization that my comprehensive exam is *tomorrow* has finally hit me harder than my SSHRC anxiety, lol. My letter can arrive tomorrow afternoon and I don't think I'd mind, in fact it might actually be preferable to know after my exam. Hmmm...

Received an email from my current school saying I have been waitlisted for a fellowship. I am currently finishing up a Masters and will be starting my PhD in the States next year. I haven't received my official letter yet. Fingers crossed for some waitlist movement!
I hope it works out, theogeek!

What do you mean, bentharbour?
I'm having the most unproductive weekend ever due to SSHRC letter waiting related anxiety, when I can't really afford to be. There is no mail delivery on Sunday, I have no excuse to bum around today and think about the letter I may or may not receive tomorrow lol

Just a flyer from H&M and a letter from bank this afternoon. Sigh. Till Monday...

Sorry to hear that, crimsoc. Best of luck next year -- we've had a lot of people in this thread re-apply and have a successful cycle after trying again, which is inspiring to see

Yes, most Canadian universities have quotas of how many applications they can forward to the national competition. My institution forwarded 63 out of (I believe) 180.
Right, I meant university quotas during the final competition, which is what theoryandpractice seems to be asking about. I assumed it doesn't matter once applications reach the national competition.

Thanks for all the support and info re wait listing everyone! Perhaps the inconsistency in awards winning scores is due to the award allocation per university? So if one university had a competitive year a 10.5 may not have made the cut, but at another, less competitive institution a lower score could have been successful?
There's an award allocation per university for the doctoral SSHRC? I've never heard this.

Safferz, like x 1,000.
I'm kicking myself for not changing my mailing address to my parents' address in Toronto earlier (I changed it for any mail after April 30th, while I'm away from my US address). I probably would have found out yesterday

Just hanging out in my apartment, waiting for USPS to deliver my letter.

I think one would be better off to accept and hope to be bumped to a CGS in the summer (I am not quite sure if this even happens...anyone know?).
I'm sure more than a few people win the CGS and tell SSHRC after that they're going to the US or elsewhere for their PhDs, so they end up with the regular doctoral award instead.
-
Congrats randomness! I'm so jealous of all of you guys getting your letters! We have mail delivery in the US tomorrow, but I think it's still too early to realistically expect the letter to reach here. Maybe Monday, but more likely I'll receive it on Tuesday.

Congrats Konstantin, DevsChick and enonce!! So much good news in this thread

Congratulations Nerd_For_Life!!
-
Congrats to the two of you! Cathaea, I'm sure you're school is being extra careful to avoid another mixup after last year, so don't worry!
-
Congrats all! Hopefully those of you who were waitlisted receive good news soon.

I found out this morning from my graduate academic assistant that I got one of the big CGS grants for $35,000 per year for three years! I'm so excited! I haven't checked my mailbox yet today as I'm working from campus, so I can't comment on whether I've received my letter yet - I'm in Ottawa, so I'll likely be one of the first to actually get the results by mail.
Sending positive good luck vibes to those who haven't heard yet!
Congrats Wher4RtThou!

I was a little too optimistic to think the SSHRC announcement yesterday would allow me to focus on my work. Even though there's really no way the letter can be in US before Monday, I'm just as distracted and unfocused today as I was earlier this week. I need to get it together because I have comps on Tuesday

I'm sure this was a coincidence and her eyes just happened to land on you while she was talking! I assume she was speaking to the entire audience and didn't mean to single you out.
I'm hesitant to email my awards administrator knowing that her reply could be "you should get the letter soon" instead of getting a yes/no answer.
If you're in Ontario, your letter will probably arrive on Friday, no? Sit tight!

Rejection letter here too! Good luck to everyone who advanced.
