  1. Hi, My area is wireless communications/networks and have funded offers from both schools(Ut Austin and Gatech). Please compare the two based on reputation, quality of education/research, prestige and most importantly where they stand in my area? Thanks.
  2. that's why (see above) ... from past trends
  3. any news guys? today'll probably be the last day for acceptances
  4. congrats to the two guys who posted their acceptances on gradcafe, one for MS, and one for Phd. Could you please share your profile?
  5. many thanks ... so stanford has jumped up to topslot
  6. email I believe, very few use snail mail for result intimation these days.. so you made it to stanford/mit too?
  7. @nablaa I guess all the acceptances' would be sent latest by the end of next week(till 23rd March) and the sugar-coated two-liners, as you pointed out, by the end of march..
  8. don't know why they take like ages to announce the results because in the end only 20 or so guys make it to EE, around 15 for Phd and the rest for MS. btw, looks like caltech released the ''first batch'' of admits today, and judjing from the number of available slots, a 'batch' here could even correspond to just a single admit
  9. looks like caltech will release results by the end of this week, already saw a few rejects from mechanical/civil... EE should be next
  10. what about the top-20 in Electrical/Communications Engg? :/
  11. well, hope is all we have...
  12. UMD is a well-known name in ECE to the say the least..has plenty of good names in communication faculty too...has an edge in certain matters being close to the capital... in terms of ranking, well it consistently ranks in the top-tier ECE graduate programs(around 15)...plus getting into any of the top 20 grad schools is by all means something to be proud of ... looks like someone has a UMD offer on the cards
  13. well ... that is encouraging ... ... let's see how many turn up here and eventually manage to get there
  14. Hi guys, I am under the impression that no one applied to caltech EE this year .....prove me wrong by sharing any info.... On a serious note, has anyone heard back from pasadena(EE Caltech) yet? I guess the probable candidates might already have had their interviews?
  15. I'll be attending MS in EE(Information Systems)..
  16. Hi guys, has anyone heard back from pasadena(EE Caltech) yet? I guess the probable candidates might already have had their interviews?
  17. well, couldnt quite understand what "3 co-authors with ''no'' research experience" means !!! If you have contributed or had even so much as a sniff at research, you should cash that in sop/resume....well yes you could apply to Texas A&M University (couldnt think of any other school atm but the best way would be to start with US world and news ranking list, spend a few hours crossing out those with admission window still open, narrowing down your choices, emailing POIs indicating that you come *funded*, they could facilitate your entry)... Since you already have two years funding, that is a big big big plus if you know where/how to advertise it...even if you get into masters, you could definitely switch to Phd later (considering your record).... hope that helps good luck
  18. well I ended up applying for a terminal MS due to unexplicable circumstances (call it bad luck or sheer stupidity ) even though my goal is a Phd.....the SOP was tailored for a PhD aswell... i got it somtime around the evening... hope that answers your questions
