I just saw that too... Ran to check the portal (my husband doesn't have internet access at work so I'm on acceptance watch during school hours) and nothing. I'm assuming it's BS. -

Oh no, that's what I mean. The website says they're emailing them - so making the decisions and then waiting 2 weeks to email them out is just torture! -

Can I just gripe about SDSU making decisions in mid-March but waiting until early April to email them out? It's not as if they need time to stamp all the envelopes or anything ... grumble grumble ... -

Hahaha ... you could always say that you'll be happy to donate full tuition dollars once you're admitted. -
Anyone relocating with family for grad school?

If my husband gets in this cycle, we will be coming with him (myself, and our gaggle of children)... we did it once already for my undergrad schooling (from CA to WA). If he gets into San Diego, our plan is to get a PO box in SD and stay with his parents in Phoenix, since the travel for an interview would be dreadful but not as horrid as flying down from Washington. He has a friend in the area he could probably stay with if something disastrous happened and I didn't get a job right away. If he gets into CSUEB, we've got friends and family in the area we can stay with. Neither should be as stressful as when we moved up here - we essentially had to come up a month early, fudge our application for a rental (saying that he was going to continue working in CA to pay the rent) and then get jobs really quickly. Luckily, it worked out! The one thing I'm considering doing differently this time is using a moving service to move the items that we want to bring with us - last time, we went the Budget rental truck route, which was horrible and expensive and the stupid thing almost overheated several times on the drive through Oregon! -

Well, that's pretty horrible, haha, I've been counting on today/Monday based off of their historical data on TGC, too. I guess I can stop refreshing the results board ... -

Seconded, hoping for good news on Friday! Though my optimism has flattened a bit, I'm still holding out hope. -

Yeah, it's a bummer. It was a "reach" school but at this point, which schools aren't reach schools? Hopefully one of the other two come through. We were planning on leaving the PacNW if he didn't get into UW, anyway, so at least our moving boxes won't go to waste. -

My husband applied to CSUEB and SDSU. He intended to apply to SJSU too, but either mistook some deadlines on their website or the deadlines were changed around... Alas, we're San Jose natives, so I was halfway looking forward to going back "home." We're hoping to hear back from SDSU next week; the confirmation email from the department secretary at CSUEB said decisions for applicants with their pre-reqs done won't be going out until early April, so there's still quite the wait there. The CBEST wasn't bad - he was able to take it here and WA, and said that it was slightly easier than the GRE. Another $100-something bucks down the toilet, though. -

San Diego State should be sending out notifications late next week, if last year's results are any indication ... I'm ready for SOMETHING, this waiting is killing me. (the actual applicant, less so, he seems to be in a zen state about the whole waiting game) -

Do you already have your pre-reqs done? He's finishing up his second BA in CSD so I was at least heartened to see that he should hear back in early April, rather than late like the 3 year people. It's still such a long wait, though! -

Not the only one! My husband's applications were confirmed received by SDSU and CSU East Bay ... looking at last year, it seems we have a 3 week wait for SDSU and another month and a half for CSUEB. -

Thanks for your response. It's obviously too late now for the January 1st school, but there's another CSDCAS application that is pending - how did you handle those specific forms not being included with the transcripts? Simply putting your CSDCAS ID# was enough? -

Hi everyone, looking for a quick bit of advice regarding CSDCAS from those of you who already have your apps in/are doing this a second time around. One of my husband's LOR writers strongly suggested that he apply to a program we had already ruled out due to out-of-state tuition rates. This school uses CSDCAS and has a due date of January 1st, 2013 for all application materials. My husband has attended 6 different schools in 3 different states, so it was impossible to actually hand each registrar the individualized forms that are supposed to be included with the transcripts (as CSDCAS so helpfully suggests you do). Our solution was to have all the transcripts sent to our home address, where he was going to include all the forms and all the transcripts in one envelope and then overnight it to CSDCAS in hopes that it would reach them and be processed on time. He just noticed today that the FAQ states that a delay in processing can occur if the transcripts aren't addressed to CSDCAS directly. I can't imagine he's the only person who has had this sort of experience - any advice here? If the transcripts and forms for all 6 schools are mailed in one giant packet directly to CSDCAS, will that be a problem? Thanks for any help anyone can give. -

Hi there - sorry, I stopped checking this board as frequently as the term wore on. He has 3 years experience as a paraeducator/professional/staff assistant (his titles have varied, the job is all the same) with a variety of populations - moderate/severe, behavioral, autism one-on-one, etc. If you are considering a post-bacc program, I highly recommend looking into Portland State's program - it is noncompetitive, and there are several people in my husband's program who actually uprooted themselves from Seattle after failed attempts to get into UW's post-bacc program and moved down to Portland so they could just get the pre-reqs out of the way. Let me know if you have any questions, I'll be back to checking the chatter here now that we're getting down to the deadline. -

I would say that, as is the standard with this field, your chances are decent with no guarantee. Applying to a wide range of schools ("backups" can end up being rejections while "dream schools" somehow admit despite long odds - if you read back through this thread and the SLP community on LJ, you'll see stories like this) seems to be the best bet, and having solid LORs in addition to the raw numbers. Good luck! -

Hi! I lurk here on behalf of my husband, who originally was going to apply for Fall 2012 ... money issues held him back, and he's in line to apply for Fall 2013. His stats are good (4.0 post-bacc, 3.3 BA in Psych, 3 years of experience in SPED) but he hasn't yet taken the GRE and he's not the fastest typist, so that's his wildcard. He's looking at University of Washington, SJSU, CSUEB, Sacramento State, SFSU, Northern Arizona University, CU-Boulder, and Arizona State University ... we'll see how financially feasible such a large list is. He and I enjoyed how helpful this board can be last time, so I'm back again a-lurkin' on his behalf. Good lucky everyone! -

Your stats look good. I would definitely look into getting more volunteer/observation hours. I would also make sure that your letters of recommendation come from SLP professors, if possible. The only other piece is your letter of intent, which you'll want to be strong, of course. Funding isn't very common, overall - if you apply to private schools, they often have scholarships and whatnot to offset their price tag, but public schools seem to have limited funding offers.
