  1. MA Media and Public Affairs Moving from Los Angeles to DC. So excited!
  2. How do GW and American notify about funding?
  3. I don't disagree with the positives about Macs, but just an alternative viewpoint. I have a Dell Inspiron Mini 10 - 1012 Laptop (netbook) that I use primarily for schoolwork and its absolutely wonderful. I initially bought it in June before leaving for Europe so that I could have a lightweight computer with me for travel-blogging. It survived the entire 4 month trip with no problems. I thought that once I got back I'd probably have to buy a Mac immediately, but its been several months and I haven't felt the need to upgrade thus far. I absolutely love it! Oh, and it cost me exactly $270.49 (including taxes and shipping). Granted there was a fantastic sale going on and I found some coupons online.... Anyways, just another option!
  4. Not to take away from the OP, but I am possibly in a similar situation (I haven't heard back officially, but I'm not hopeful). It seems that the consensus is No for 80k, but what about 45k? That would only be for tuition. I'm assuming I can work and cover my own living expenses, so as not to add more to that. Does that seem reasonable?
  5. Let me start by saying, that clearly by my name--I'm a little biased! Having said that, I think that the networking benefits to DC especially in that field (which, incidentally is the same as mine!) outweighs the cost of living in the long run. That is why I'm choosing to go there. I can't speak specifically to the program comparison, but I have always believed that education is what you make it. Anyways, would bet it is the internship and network opportunities that will really make the difference.
  6. I haven't heard anything yet from them, so I'd be happy with anything. But if you are fielding better offers from other schools, I've been told that there is a little bit of negotiation power. If SPA is your first choice, I would certainly take the next steps in trying to negotiate a better offer. It can't hurt, right?
  7. Wow! This is so interesting. Thanks for the share! It certainly explains how I, and some of my friends, have been feeling...
  8. I would e-mail. My app was complete Jan 13 and was accepted Feb 22. Have you received any news since this post? It seems like we applied to similar programs. I'm still waiting to hear back from GW for Media and Public Affairs. Congrats on your other acceptances!
  9. It's pretty funny that this comment ended up bumping the thread too. If you don't have anything nice to say.....
  10. Would any of you mind sharing stats???
  11. I almost wonder if its one person entertaining themselves by posting as different people. Just proof that the grad school process causes emotional/mental turmoil possibly resulting in multiple personalities!
  12. Perhaps try the Gov Affairs board? Here is some information from an old thread, dealing with GW generally. They are talking about Trachtenberg and not SMPA, but the comments may be helpful nonetheless.
  13. I applied there! I wouldn't take a lack of posts as a statement about its quality as a school.
