  1. For incoming Graduate Students at UNC (and Duke if you don't mind riding the Robertson Scholars bus to their campus/incurring the parking fees to commute) If you are interested in housing - the house where I presently reside is losing a resident (due to graduation from the MBA Program) and the landlord is looking to fill the spot. We are comprised of Graduate Students and working professionals, and within walking distance to campus. For those of you unfamiliar with the area, while one could technically commute to NC State, it would probably be somewhat burdensome if you do. If you are interested

  3. Congrats Wintergreen! I actually also applied to the Poli Sci program (I have my B.A. from UNC in Poli Sci) even though I ended up getting into and ultimately selecting the Journalism School. If you are not regional and only have limited familiarity with the program based on your visits let me be the first to assure you - you will absolutely love the school! The faculty members are OUTSTANDING! Congratulations!
  4. One thing that may be useful to many of the thread posters is knowing that if you have funded offers elsewhere, informing the school will greatly expedite the rate in which they find and offer you funding.
  5. I'll be here for the Ph.D. in JOMC! Greetings everyone!

  7. I haven't heard a thing either. What's worse is that if you call Harvard they tell you it is their policy not to let you know anything, even if they have the answer (not just your admissions decision. this includes if letters have been sent out, if the committee has met at all, etc.)
  8. I agree with the topic poster. The schools generate a substantial amount of income from people that will never set foot on campus as a student. The least they can do is personalize the rationale. The staffing/time constraint argument is a tired and frankly a cop out. at some of these schools, like BU, the fees for 4 applications would be enough to pay a seasonal employee $500 a to help for a week with the task
  9. For anyone in or waitlisted for the PHD Program. What are your plans now?
  10. I sure did- since I have an interdisciplinary background (MA Communication and Leadership, BA Political Science, Presented at the APSA convention and some professional conventions as well) I knew my best chance would be to cast a wide net given the competitive nature of admissions
  11. It's an odd scenario in general. I thought the funding would come post-acceptance but that's not the case. It seems like the interviews are almost conducted simultaneously. Well - I suppose I'll know soon enough
  12. I have a question regarding the likelyhood of admission into a program when you make it to this stage. I received an email invite to interview for a Doctoral fellowship at my first choice in 2 weeks and I am curious if anyone has insight into what this typically means re: official admission.
