I only ask people who i know will give me great recommendations thus I always check the box that says I don't want to see it because it shouldnt be seen by me. If your worried about someone giving you a bad one maybe you should of asked someone else who you dont have to worry about.

About a month ago someone in my field posted a result and thenlike a week later the school emailed me saying I had everything in and the committeee would meet sometime in early March. So some people do post with faulty information so don't take everything on here as fact.

Today is presidents day.

Well first round of rejections come before the adcoms even meet. The secretaries actually have a small paper telling them who gets automatic rejections based on requirements that the adcoms have come up with which varies for every school. For instance when I was appling to masters programs, one letter i got was a rejection based on not having a 4.0 GPA since spots were so limited at that school for that year they only accepted people with 4.0 gpa's

I would wait a couple more weeks at least. It is only Feb., so I wouldn't cantact anyone until midmarch at earliest. I know I haven't heard from the 9 places I applied to which I fel is a ood thing sense when i applied for my master's two years ago, the only response I got before late Feb. was a rejection while after that i got all my acceptances late Feb., Early March. I even got an acceptance late April but had already told my current school i was attending them. I think going through the whole application part for a second time makes the waiting easier. But then again i will start checking my mail with anxiety starting next week since it is still not even late Feb. yet and one of the programs told me they would notify by the end of Feb. Plus i know since I havent gotten any rejections yet I at least made it past the first round of all the places i applied to. And also congrats to everyone who made it past the first round of rejections everywhere since now all the programs have sent off the automatic rejections already. And may everyone have the best of luck going forward

9 months means you will have to find some work for the summer. Being international you will have to find a job on campus for the summer since your vista will most likely not only allow working off campus . The stipend is livable but you will have to live like a college student. The heath insurance on campus isn't the best but most likely you wont ever need to visit the doctor but if you do they can help you and other fees mean that they just cover tuition. Every college has alot of little fees like recreation fee and lab fees if you take labs. But there are always student loans incase your in a bind and can't afford it but its awesome your getting a stipend that is as good as that

Theres always options. I worked 30 hours a week during my undergrad to graduate with no debt from undergrad. Then I work just as hard the past year and half. Plus I know people who weren't funded and found their own funding through other departments at their school of choice since just because your department doesn't offer it doesnt mean you can't get it through other departments at your school of choice.

Geuss I just dont understand since I would never apply someplace that I wouldnt attend unless i got funded. Especially since in my field they almost never fund the first year which happened to me. I moved cross country to get my masters with no funding because of the status of the school in my field. Luckily I was able to get funded for my second year which helped. And when I was applying, if I applied to a program knowing that I would only go if funded then I would look for a different program I should spend my money and time appling to. But thats just me. As for car scenery, what about taxes and insurance. If I can't afford the 125k car to begin with I really doubt I could afford the insurance for it let alone the registration and taxes. So i would again chose the car I could afford no matter who was paying for it. Geuss I am the only person who sees someone win a car on T.V. and know that most likely they will have to sell the car because they wont be able to afford the 32% tax on the car they won.

Why even waste the money with the application and stuff if you consider them that low. Plus alot of places dont give it to first years since they like to see the individual and decide after getting to know the person

From past experiences nothing good comes from letters so soon. Late Feb and early March you'll start hearing. I haven't even began to start looking for them

Every department at the schools notify at different times. So just because one department at your school notified doesn't mean anything

Might I ask why? Many of us here would have given our eyeteeth and our firstborn to know last week. Because rejections come first and then acceptance and then rejections again so feb 20 through march is when im hoping for

I know of people who got rejections before the acceptance letters were sent out

thats about the percent of accepting but you must consider every place gets about 1-2 hundred unqualified applicats a year so it would be higher if you dont count that. Plus this is for anthropology, every field is different like chemistry has a much higher acception rate and I know business has a higher rate. Not sure about the other fields. Any know about the other fields?

Well with anthro they like you to have ba from one school masters from a different one and then phd from completely different one. Physical/biological anthro is within 10 thousand year arch. is after 10 thousand years. Culture is the study of cultures.The adviser is really important. They can open doors for you or they can close doors and more famous the better.

from my experience the dates are almost never meet

Like with every program some have interviews and some you get a yes or no answer

Well, you might want to also way which place would make it easier for you to get a job

For masters you dont have to contact them.
