  1. I would advise you not to pursue a phd at Northeastern based upon what you've said about the program. Maybe an MA, but definitely not a phd.
  2. ^ Re: Northeastern. I was responding to a PhD program. If you're applying for an MA then it might be a different story...
  3. If they're letting you apply a month after their deadline then you have your answer about the quality of the program.
  4. There are at least 4 others in your situation with Berkeley...so who knows.
  5. Does anyone have any news about Northwestern? I was under the impression that they'd be notifying this week...but no news. Thanks!
  6. Who else hasn't heard either way from Berkeley?
  7. You got into every program so far westcoast? Care to share any stats, bio info? I'm impressed.
  8. I'm convinced that NW is done.
  9. I too have taken up cookies.
  10. No, I'm sure that they love it. Just post your results.
  11. I have no clue. I am just hoping that they aren't done with the main batch of acceptances.
  12. I'm hoping that they've only notified one particular subfield (theory).
  13. I hope that you are right. Not everyone uses gradcafe, so we are only seeing a sample of the overall lot.
  14. Should we be worrying about NW? They have five acceptances.
  15. At least we get done with duke...
  16. I doubt that Chicago would be in the top 15 for comparative, but I'd have to say that both MIT and UW-Madison both would be.
  17. Fair enough, but they sure took a ton of credit for him while I was there.

  19. I'm guessing that the person was joking. Chicago isn't constructivist at all. You have the realists (Pape, Mearsheimer, etc.) and liberals (Snidal, Lipson, etc.). They did NOT produce Wendt, so every IR theory course makes you read Social Theory of International Relations so that they can rip it in half, but other than that there ain't much constructivism going on.
  20. Hondo - You should have a very reasonably chance at all of the schools that you listed. Your verbal GRE will hurt you some, but I don't believe that any of those schools listed have a strict cutoff (filtering out anyone below a certain score). Best of luck. If you have problems getting in this year, many schools have 'cash cow' MA programs that let you go and prove your worth at an elite school. Just an idea. I took this approach because I too went to a 4th tier state school. Letters from one of these schools will go a long way.
  21. Not me! I'm just familiar with the literature.
  22. Northwestern is notoriously well-funded. Apparently they own a patent on some pharmaceutical that they've been cashing in on.
  23. Thanks mormegil. Keep your chin up. Maybe she wasn't allowed to tell you.
  24. Do any of the places you applied to for phd have south asian people?
  25. just have them send submit once to interfolio and you send them all
