I'm 34. You'll still be young. Don't worry about it.

Well I wouldnt' spend 4000.00 on applications ever again. That's crackers. I got a job, volunteered, talked to profs about my plans, got some insights and have applied again (to the tune of 220.00)

Congrats on McMaster! I check my status online for both schools I've applied to 20 x a day. Sigh.
-
LOL> That's a new one. What does that mean? I wish they'd all have the same/similar codes/terms. I hate having to wonder.

Just FYI, when I applied to York they put me on the waitlist, didn't let me know I was on the waitlist and then finally let me know it was a no in October. Be sure to have the contact info of the graduate program admin. October. ::side eye::

Just a question, do Canadian schools keep any data at all on rates of acceptance for graduate programs etc.. per program/university. I've searched but can't find anything. I think that's strange. I find it weird that I can't even find out how may full time students each school accepts.

Awesome. Thanks for that. I applied because it was small. For Canadian Studies with Women's studies specialty. It's such a great campus. My brother is doing his undergrad there. I had a hell of a time getting my application to them on time but they were great. Now i just wait and hope.

I'm waiting on Trent and Western for Canadian Studies & Women's Studies. Very nervous.

The only thing I think would work is if you called the graduate admissions office, fessed up to the crime and asked if you could send over something to replace the damning document with. If you can't change it online, then I imagine this would be the only way. And I'd do it before it went to the program for review. So, ASAP! Good luck!

To be fair, I don't see anyone "dismissing your arguments out of hand because you haven't read enough sociology." I think you're finding people are either laughing at you because you've come across both smug and ignorant and well, you seem extraordinarily naive of your own background and "training."

Truly.

Last year I got my official letter in late October from York. It was awful. I know this year if I haven't heard by April 15th, its a no.

I've been on a wait list since the app was due in February. Waiting is NOT FUN. THink there's any chance at all at this late date?
-
Yeah U of T wrote in their rejection letter that they had 200 applicants for 16 spaces for the PhD. I got 2 letters. One from the graduate unit and one from the faculty. Very very nice letter saying they were impressed but just couldn't make an offer at this time because of a lack of faculty supervisors and funding. Oh well! I'm now waiting on another school so here's hoping. To all those who are waiting on U of T, looks like they've sent out all their acceptances and rejections so good luck to all of you and all the best to those of you who got in! Hopefully we'll be seeing one another at some conferences in the near future.

Got a rejection today from U of T. Now waiting on York.

Got my rejection from U of T in the mail today. Waiting on York but apparently they are quite late.

Do not contact your school because you are antsy

I think the OP gave good advice. It sucks to wait but that's the way it is. Of course in exceptional circumstances, call to see if all your documents were received etc... and of course if you're down to another program's deadline... call. But just because you're tired of waiting? Seems sort of silly to me to bother someone over impatience. -
Still waiting on U of T. My file still says "Under Review' and I've received nothing in the mail. EEP! Matilda, did yours update on the website at all yet?
-
I do to. Frankly some people said they were accepted weeks ago and there's still an "under review" beside their name. Same with rejection. I'm not sure when we'll hear.
-
I'm waiting on U of T and York. ::bites nails:: Matilda's acceptance was over a week ago and I've heard nothing. EEK!
-
Matilda! That's amazing news. How did they contact you? Congrats!
