  1. so it looks BGSU sent out reruitment emails? I'm on the "short wait list" but they offered $300 for my recruitment weekend. But also, I guess there was a group of "initial offers" That I didn't make. However, the emailed made being on the "short list" very optimistic.
  2. just want to comment that I find it interesting that out of 9 schools, the one that you got invited to interview is one of the best psychology program in the nation... is grad school that much a crap shoot? that someone can be good enough for a school like UMich but not 8 other schools? Unless those 8 other schools are stanford, harvard, etc...
  3. hi I noticed you said you were rejected by wayne state... did your letter say "not AT THIS TIME" or something different? I ask because the other rejection letter I got just flat out said "we can not admit you." and "at this time" sometimes can mean waitlist... thank

  4. Not to say I'm not interested in what I'm applying to, but if my undergraduate research has been in one field how much of chance do I have getting in a different field for PhD? I applied to some different I/O programs and am starting to get a little cold feet about it. I have pretty good grades/scores GPA: 3.5 GRE 1320 (Q720) I worked at 2 labs, no publications but 1 small undergrad conference presentation, 1 big poster presentation at Annual Conference for Judgment and Decision Making. I worked mostly at a Cognitive Science/Decision Lab. With some experience in a social personality lab. plus a $2000 research grant I think I would be a pretty competitive applicant for my field (Cognitive Psych, Social Psych etc.) but I'm looking to get into I/O psychology, and I do think my skills/ experience can be applied there. But given my experience in a significantly different field, how are my chances? was this a bad idea to begin with and I should have stuck to something I can at least SHOW I know more about? or is this something happens more often, (especially in I/O Psych, considering not every UG institution have a good I/O Program to train their undergrads anyways...) Thanks for any input from people that got accepted or know others in PhD programs.
  5. Psychology: 3.5 GPA, 1320 GRE (Q:720, V: 600) Programs: MSU, UMich, CMU, Wayne State, WashU, IU, ChicagoBooth, Akron, BGSU By the way, I don't think the transcripts will hold up your applications. Several programs I talked about my transcript told me that because I uploaded my unofficial transcript, it will not hold up my application. I'm sure god knows how many of these things get lost in the process. If they really want you and want to confirm your grades, they will ask you for them later on if you did not get it to them the first time. Basically, if they like you, the transcript won't stop them. If they don't want you, even a 4.0 transcript won't help you.
  6. your grades are really good, 3.6 GPA is fine in my oppinion. if you have solid research experience, you should be good for a lot of programs
  7. anyone applied to bowling green state got a letter saying "We are pleased to inform you that your application materials have been forwarded to Psychology for evaluation."?? they really like to send those letters but I have no idea if there have been cuts made or everyone that applied got one... it seem a little late to send out letters of this sort
  8. I know you need general GRE for all PhD programs. I can't see a PhD program that doesn't need a general GRE, if there is one, its probably not worth going. and I can't speak for deadlines though, but if I had to guess, there aren't many schools that are still taking applications at this moment. You can possibly look at some masters that might take apps later.
  9. if it makes you feel better I got rejected from Umich social just today so if you haven't heard back it might be good.
  10. Thanks, she did say the final decision will be made this week or early next week so crossing my fingers its the "later round" GL ALL
  11. Hi, The chair of the graduate committee at CMU I/O program called me after the graduate admission committee met to discuss the applications. She just basically asked me some general questions because my UG experience was more cognitive psychology oriented. Is this generally a good thing? I'm assuming she wouldn't call someone to confirm their interest if that person isn't being seriously considered? or is this a standard thing for the committee do, and they probably call half of the applicants anyways. I'm sorry to sound paranoid but I'm sure its standard for us applicants around this time anyways. Cheers
  12. hi so I'm assuming we should start to hear back from the schools? has anyone hear back from Indiana Bloomington for Cognitive Science of Cognitive Psychology?
  13. 1) does I/O programs do interviews? 2) I applied to Central Michigan Akron Bowling Green Wayne State Michigan State GRE: 1320 (720/600) GPA: 3.5 2 research labs, 3 yrs of experience 1 talk at a undergrad cognitive science conference 1 poster at judgment and decision making society annual conference not a lot of direct experience with I/O but I think my research experience makes up for that also for the January deadlines, when are we expected to hear back? I heard back from CMU saying "final decision will be made in 2-4 weeks"...
