  1. I'm pretty sure I will be, just waiting to hear back from one more school (Carleton, the world's slowest responder). What program are you in? I posed this in the Waiting on Canadian Universities thread but I thought this would be a good place to post as well. My acceptance letter was just that, an acceptance letter. No info about funding, TA-ships, or those amazing U of Ottawa admissions scholarships. Did you get notifed of funding in your letter or are we all waiting for a second round of envelopes with more info?
  2. I am particularly nervous because U of Ottawa calculation my GPA as 7.7 and you need at least an 8.0 out of 10 for admissions scholarships unless the department recommends you based on other factors.
  3. Have any U of Ottawa applicants received news about funding? I just got my official acceptance letter in the mail (for the MA in Public and International Affairs) but said NOTHING about funding. I suspect this means I did not receive any, but I suppose some schools send funding info separately.
  4. Lacultpo, What is the rent like in Ottawa? I'm coming from Montreal where you can find a 1 bedroom for $650 with hardwood floors and big windows. Any tips on apartment hunting sites, other than Craigslist? Is there a time of year where everyone's lease is up and everyone moves around? In Montreal most leases start July 1st so its best to look in May and June. Much appreciated, Calum
  5. Any Ottawa applicants having trouble viewing their Infoweb accout? All of a sudden there are no applications listed under "Graduate Admissions Status" which is driving me nuts cause people are posting acceptences to my program on the results page.
  6. I also received an invite to the U of Ottawa Graduate Programs Info Session. I applied to two U of Ottawa programs, rejected from one and still waiting to hear from the other. Since they are offering free transport and funding to get you to the shuttle bus I would think it wouldn't be cost effective for Ottawa to send invitations to students it was going to reject two weeks later. But who knows!
  7. Canadian schools are especially frustrating. They don't have any obligation to notify us in time for us to make decisions by April 15th and they seem to be TERRIBLE at keeping applicants up to date. Some of my schools only notify by MAIL, others only use the online notifying to post acceptances and rejections, not where they are in the admissions process. One of my schools won't even be getting back to applicants until MAY. UGH!!
  8. Program Applied To MPP/MPA, MIA, Globalization and International Development Schools Applied To: Carleton (NPSIA), Ottawa, Ryerson, Concordia (6 programs in total at 4 schools) Specialization: Social Policy and International Development. Still Waiting: All Undergraduate institution: Top 2 "Comprehensive" University in Canada Undergraduate GPA: 3.3/4.0 Last 60 hours of Undergraduate GPA (if applicable): 3.62/4.0 Undergraduate Major: Journalism Econ Courses: 3.7/4.0 GRE: Not applicable (applying to Canadian schools) Years Out of Undergrad (if applicable): 3 Years of Work Experience: 4 full-time Describe Relevant Work Experience: 2 years in community outreach for a non-profit, 1 year media/publishing, summer internship on a national statistics project, 1 year part-time development/fundraising. Foreign Language: French Strength of SOP (be honest, describe the process, etc): Exhausting and annoying as all the programs had different lengths, formats and questions. I wrote mainly about my professional background, emphasizing experience and career goals. Strength of LOR (be honest, describe the process, etc): Academic - from the dean of my department who taught me for 3 out of 4 years in my undergrad. Professional - from an employer and former politican. Other: Am very nervous that my academic background will not be considered thorough enough preparation, especially for the MPP programs run out of Poli Sci departments.
