  1. i don't think it's an issue. i only took 3/4 courses my last semester and just got my first acceptance today.
  2. they haven't...i have yet another phone interview with a brandeis prof on monday. i had an interview at brown this past week. this is for psychology though.
  3. no one is every 150% thrilled with something all the time. grad school is your job. the question isn't if you like your job 150% of the time, the question is if you find your job satisfying in general. so i think what you're feeling is realistic.
  4. It's a funding issue.
  5. anyway, does anyone have interviews set up elsewhere? i was devastated after getting waitlisted, but now i'm heading off for a weekend of interviews in the midwest. time to put on a happy face!
  6. Hi, I was waitlisted too : (
  7. I don't know if I agree with this. I really really want a PhD and it's a definite career goal for me, but I don't know if the scale tips toward PhD when choosing between career and marriage/family. Ideally it'd be a happy medium and there would be compromise on both sides. Note: this doesn't apply if you've been dating someone for 3 weeks or something.
  8. Why do all the recruitment weekends happen to occur on the SAME weekend??!
  9. I got an interview invite from Pitt a few weeks ago. Interview weekend starts 2/27.
  10. to the original poster: why didn't you title the thread What is a "Rhetoric" PhD? just to drive the point home?
  11. did they send out rejections by this time last year? stressful, they're my first choice!
  12. It doesn't seem like they give formal interviews. How come you only applied to one school? I'd be pulling out my hair
  13. That was me. I applied in the cognitive area--and if I was accepted it would make my year! You're lucky...I've only heard from 4/11 schools.
