  1. It sounds to me like you are trying to convince yourself that you are not depressed by saying that you don't have any real problems. Depression is not the manifestation of serious problems with your life- it is a medical condition. If your therapist is suggesting anti-depressants (especially more than once), you should definitely think seriously about it before you decide not to try them. The fact is that is that you can always decide to stop taking anti-depressants (assuming you have given them adequate time to kick in) if you don't like the side effects or they don't seem to be working for you. I would urge you not to decide against ALL anti-depressants because of your experience with a single one. As with all medication a specific brand may not work for you.
  2. The first time around I applied to 5 programs at 4 schools. Now that I've finished my masters, I have a much clearer idea of what I am looking for in a PhD, so I only applied to the program that really fit my intellectual interests and finances. I would recommend that you apply to as many programs as you an where the program, research, etc. match what you are looking for and where you can craft really good applications (don't let your SOPs suffer bc you're applying to too many schools).
  3. touchdown Jesus (yes I'm a Notre Dame fan)
  4. If you haven't heard that you were rejected then there is still a chance! Good Luck!
  5. They have your transcripts that show your real GPA and assume it was a typo or that you made a mistake in reporting it. Don't sweat it!
  6. No. Either wait (I know it's painful) or call and check to make sure all of your application materials were received- at least that way you might get an idea of when applications are being reviewed.
  7. I only applied to one...honestly I wasn't planning on applying at all this year, but I found a program that fits my interests really well and offers all admitted students funding (no funding is a deal-breaker for me since I already have too many loans). I'm really nervous that I will be rejected, but I'm just hoping that doesn't happen.
  8. My graduate program offered an interest-free loan that you paid back with your stipend over the course of several paychecks. I believe you could borrow up to $1,000 for moving and other related expenses.
