  1. Delon is absolutely right. Regular MS last 2 years with a maximum of 8 credits per semester or 2 classes. This totals to 32. This allows time for research positions or part time job. Where Cornell is more intense and you end with a project, where in regular MS its a thesis.
  2. I haven't hear anything from Brown MSE. Did you got e-mail or postal? The embark site doesn't provide any status on the decision.
  3. Same here. I guess my concentrations is not a very good fit for there. Also I have no publications.
  4. Yeah I got mine from Tufts. The "Your admissions decision will be found here when it is available" will turn into View Decision.
  5. The decisions from TUFTS should be out, I got mine on the website they provide. Anyone heard from Northeastern PhD program? No news from Brown MSE as well. Looked the embark website but there is nothing anywhere about decision.
  6. Probably by mid next week. I just checked the search results section here on thegradcafe and someone just got admitted this morning with funding. Same applies to NEU.
  7. They better do give decisions before April 15th, there other schools that I must say yes or no by that time lol. 66th is not that bad considering Tufts is more of a Medical/Dental Grad school. I looked through the faculty and it seems good.
  8. Got an email from Tufts saying that the decisions will be out shortly and encourage students to check the website they provide. Packets will be also sent out.
  9. If I am in your shoes I would probably go to the school which is for free. I am in this position where if Northeastern doesn't accept me for PhD let say but offers me MS with an option for PhD later on and the opportunity to do research, I will pick that before Cornell. I will do that mainly because of the location. I am settled in Boston now. I have lived here for the past 4 years. The decision totally depends on what your priorities are.
  10. I have 2 years of research and teaching experience from my Undergrad in here - I can't really have an actual experience in a big company because of my Student Visa. Most of the times companies look for US Citizenship even if its for a few months. But i believe that MEng Cornell by itself is a big enough name for the recruiters.
  11. I am also accepted to MEng Cornell. Being international though I need to provide financial statement for 60k in May if I want to go which means I am in the same boat as you to take a student loan for at least 50k. That will cover the 41ish thousand for tuition and living expenses + i have few savings. I have to agree with engin33r. I have the same observations. They reject PhD students to offer them MEng and make money. The official motto of the MEng program should be - we are self-funded lol. However, I believe that to be a good investment, and at the end this might be a very good choice. My main concern is the location. I would prefer to stay in Boston, but hey if no one wants me I wil go to Ithaca. I went there last year to the Visit Day for MEng with a friend of mine that got accepted. All the students said they have job offers lined up waiting for them to graduate.
  12. I checked the embark application yesterday but there was nothing. I guess still have to wait for results there. Yeah no news from Tufts too.
  13. Strange. I talked to the Admission Office, they didn't mention anything like that. Talked to a Student that applied for PhD and got denied but got accepted to MEng. A professor liked his research work from Undergrad before the fact and gave him the assistantship. He also told me the same thing - MEng is self-funded.
  14. Also got accepted to MEng at Cornell in late February. Only reason I haven't said yes is because I am waiting on Northeastern and Tufts to give their decision for the PhD Program. Also MEng is self-funded program, no research since its only a year long program. Being international students I need to show them a bank statement for $60k. At the end if that is my only choice I will have to get a loan and deal with it.
  15. How did Brown MSEE notified you via postal service or somewhere on the website? I can't find a way to check my status. Also did anyone heard from Northeastern or Tufts PhD program in EE? I talked to one of the professors at the Info Session that NEU had last week. He told me that the decisions are made. He was surprised to find out that we don't know yet and told me to e-mail him in 2 weeks if I still don't know.
