  1. MAybe the Yale Af-Am accept/rejects go out at different times depending on the other department. Still haven't heard back either (I'm History). BTW, Fanon, I'm at UT -Austin RTF right now doing a Master's. You can PM me if you want any info.
  2. To anyone who's asked, the NYU History AdComm is meeting TODAY to finalize decisions. Should hear back by the end of the end of the week at the latest.
  3. thanks for the news Jbate! I was rejected from Brown a week back, but no word from Yale yet.
  4. Congratulations to everyone who received good news this week! What an emotional rollercoaster it's been. I finally received the formal invitation to NYU Prospie Wknd so that has significantly calmed me down from all the other rejections (bahhh Brown). What with all the Yale acceptances that came out this week, I'm a little confused, though. I actually applied to the dual program in Af-Am and History, which usually sends out notices much later. But do any of you have an idea of how interviewing works for this? Do I need to get an interview from both departments? (I haven't gotten either, really). I don't know!
  5. I know this thread seems to have died, but where else to seek out the AfAm applicants? I was wondering if any of you had heard about Yale interviews for Af-Am Studies. Supposedly all the GSAS departments had to do interviews for this season, but I haven't seen anything posted. I know for sure interviews have gone out for my second department (History) and I didn't get one of those, but still thinking there might be a sliver of hope.
  6. I guess this means I've been rejected from UT? I'm heartbroken
  7. Hi everyone, Been following the topic for a while (all the ups and downs with Yale interviews!), but never posted. Wanted to say I received a call from POI at NYU inviting me to visiting weekend with very positive reviews of my app. I'm in African Diaspora. So those invites are going out soon! Good luck to everyone and feel free to ask questions.
  8. Hello! I'm currently an M.A. student in Media Studies. I will be applying next year to interdisciplinary Af-Am and Lat-Am Studies programs. For practice and curiosity, I've submitted articles to a couple of lower-tier journals--meaning graduate student journals and the like--and have been accepted. Should I go through with this or just wait until I can get a paper into a top tier journal? Do departments care about publications during the admissions process? Will it actually look bad that I published stuff in journals of this ilk? What do you think?
