  1. lyon, At the weekend, were there any victorianists/19th brit lit? How was visiting Minny?
  2. Is anyone aware of Maryland's history of accepting PhDs. to the MA program? I checked the results board and didn't see any soft of confirming info one way or the other.
  3. Ok. I looked over the timeline, but saw that things were moving a little quicker this year across the board.
  4. No, that works. I'm wondering if they've accepted people already, but none of those 7 happen to be on GradCafe. They have tended to inform acceptances over the phone, so I guess keep 'em ready.
  5. Ok, who's gonna claim it. And any details you have on how far they are in the process would be helpful.
  6. Nevermind, we have heard. It's a waitlist by subfield. Thanks for the help.
  7. Thanks, I will do so if I need it. I wish I could be more gracious right now, but sports have sent me into a rage right now.
  8. Has anyone heard from Minnesota regarding the waitlist process and how many people are on it? We've called and emailed, and heard nothing.
  9. http://english.rutgers.edu/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=184:funding&catid=126&Itemid=1565 tuition + health + 21k for fellowships, 23k for teaching. You get at least one year of fellowships, and possibly a second year.
  10. My girlfriend is on the waitlist, and her's doesn't say that. It stills says the same application complete message as before. I would assume that if you are on final review, you are probably getting cut. Best of luck to everyone who is still up in the air like we are.
  11. I disagree on what Grad Cafe does. Instead of giving people hope, it creates despair by knowing exactly when everyone hears from every school, leaving you wondering when you're going to hear, if ever, and turning functional people into nervous wrecks. Just because something is unlikely doesn't make it worth pursuing. There is a certain amount of money you need to live on: the rest is just for your own fun. But if your job makes you happy and you like what you do, you obviously need less of the latter. And finally, the issue isn't a lack of talent, but an overabundance of it. Eventually, those who don't really want to be in this field will move on, but those who really do will stick around waiting for their shot. Don't give up yet, you have a long road in front of you and plenty of time to get to your goals.
  12. So is mine, and Rutgers will be open for business Monday, per their academic calendar. Hopefully sooner rather than later! http://scheduling.rutgers.edu/calendar.shtml
