  1. All I hear is the silence...I only have my Masters programs right now, essentially. Every day that goes by without word from the PhD programs means worse and worse things. I'm not sure how I could really change my application though. How do you know to change your SoP? I think GRE scores would be my focus...
  2. So, if Washington is done with admits today, then there's a rejection. Spirito - about Virginia, I have not heard anything and I have not called to check. I'm a little nervous to call....plus, I wouldn't really know what to say, still seems a little early to call.
  3. I haven't heard from Viriginia or Chicago, and every day goes by I don't hear back from MIT gets worse. -sigh- I'm wondering if I should just assume I have three more rejects and be pleasantly surprised if I do get in.
  4. Who's the latest MIT admit????? -bites fingernails- Don't be an IR/Security! To the Putin video - AWESOME. Love it.
  5. Well, thank you. Especially because I'm IR/Security. :[ Here's to praying to Baby Jesus!
  6. We're you part of the political economy admits from this weekend? Have you heard anything about the other subfields?
  7. Me three. Applied to 9. Already 2 rejections. Don't really want to start thinking about looking for jobs or all the money wasted on applications/transcripts/scores...
  8. Did they phone interview all potential acceptances? Also, just as a question/concern, I'm wondering why acceptances don't come the way that the FAQ on the websites say they'll come. For instance, MIT said that acceptances will only come via mail. Why, then, would they call people? Same with Washington. I guess I'm just confused and wondering if I should give up hope if some people get phone calls, when it says wait for mail.
  9. See, I disagree with the "use and read English grammar correctly" portion of that. Because that's not what it is. It isn't a GRAMMAR test, it's a VOCABULARY test. And either you know it or you don't. And it's not mathematical logic, it's geometry equations that people haven't used since they were sophomores in high school and will never be relevant in their field. The GRE is an all-around awful test (as are most standardized tests) that favor a certain portion of the population. I just wouldn't call knowing the synonym of some archaic word "relevant skill."
  10. With what I'm reading about GREs, I'm glad I'm not the only one. I absolutely despise the GRE, and it is very little, if anything, that the scores tell you of how an applicant will perform in undergraduate/graduate school. But of anything, it is what I am most worried about affecting my application. Do GRE scores weigh heavier for undergrads coming straight from ungrad than other applicants? I read somewhere that it is, but I would really like another perspective. I'm just afraid that it is my GRE scores that will kill my chances of getting into a school.
  11. Too true!!! But maybe it's a test of faith?? hahaha
  12. Are you an international student too? I was thinking maybe they were just doing international students today?
  13. Maybe ND does all their acceptances on Sunday? I mean, it is a Holy Day! Any other Catholic universities? Maybe Georgetown will do admissions on Ash Wednesday!
  14. Congrats!!! I hope I'll be there with you. hahaha. So do a couple people on this board.
  15. Mind sharing your stats?? I'm waiting to hear from MIT too. The website said they'll send out acceptances via DHL and rejections via USPS. I wonder why the phone calls? Just doing both?
  16. hahah! Couldn't have said it better myself! How about this one??? Well I was sitting, waiting, wishing You believed in superstitions Then maybe you'd see the signs The Lord knows that this world is cruel I ain't the Lord, no I'm just a fool Learning lovin' somebody don't make them love you Must I always be waiting, waiting on you Must I always be playing, playing your fool I sang your songs, I danced your dance I gave your friends all a chance But putting up with them Wasn't worth never having you Maybe you've been through this before But it's my first time so please ignore The next few lines cause they're directed at you I can't always be waiting, waiting on you I can't always be playing, playing your fool I keep playing your part But it's not my scene Want this plot to twist I've had enough mystery Keep building it up Then shooting me down But I'm already down Just wait a minute Just sitting, waiting Just wait a minute Just sitting, waiting Well, if I was in your position I'd put down all my ammunition I'd wonder why'd it taken me so long But Lord knows that I'm not you And if I was, I wouldn't be so cruel Cause waitin' on love aint so easy to do Must I always be waiting, waiting on you Must I always be playing, playing your fool No, I can't I always be waiting, waiting on you I can't always be playing, playing your fool
  17. That's what I figured, but I knew SAIS had a PhD and wasn't sure if that was the same one. I didn't look into JHU PhD, hence the ignorance.
  18. Does JHU do PhD and SAIS applications close together? Based on past SAIS, I would say those only come in the middle of March...So no worries yet!
  19. Anyone claim the MIT acceptances? I didn't expect to hear from them for one or two weeks yet...
