  1. Um, I received several e-mails from Hunter on Thursday as well. Two were both welcome/acceptance letters (one was "revised") and the third e-mail was from Nireata Seals asking me to verify my attendance for the fall via e-mail so they can "hold my place in the enrollment database" in lieu of receiving my deposit. The only info I received about student events was for the orientation in August. Have you received your financial aid award from them yet?
  2. I just got accepted to Hunter College and I'm extremely excited! I'm still waiting to hear from Fordham, but I'm pretty sure I'll go with Hunter - the price is amazing for the quality of instruction I'll receive and they have a brand new facility for the School of Social Work.
  3. Did anyone apply to Fordham? If so, how long after you submitted your application did you receive an admissions response??? Also, does anyone know if there's a specific date that schools absolutely need to let us know admissions decisions by?
  4. Has anyone heard back from Hunter yet? Can they seriously make me wait forever for a decision???
  5. That definitely puts everything in perspective, thanks a lot! I'm going to call Hunter on Monday and figure out if I can change my concentration, since it has been three weeks since my interview. But at this point I'm a little skeptical about being picky because I just got a rejection letter from NYU :-( and I'd definitely be happy with the COP&D method as long as I'll be able to work with communities and individuals.
  6. Thanks so much for the advice! I think my main question is what do people in the COP&D method do? Because I really want to work with people, but in my interview they really stressed the administrative/policy approach. And I just don't want to be in a field-placement where I'm sitting in an office carrying out administrative tasks - I don't want to limit myself. Also does the concentration even matter that much when it comes to getting a job? Or, is an MSW just an MSW?
  7. OMG Congrats!!! Did you get it in the mail or via e-mail???
  8. Also I posted this under "CUNY Hunter" but haven't received any feedback, and I really need some advice/insight!!! I just had an interview at Hunter and the program seems amazing and definitely worth it for the costs. However, I applied to the COP&D (Community Organization, Planning and Development) program and after going to the interview and getting more information on the concentration, I don't think it's right for me. I'm applying to MSW programs coming right out of undergrad (I graduate this May) and I don't feel as though I have enough experience in social work on an individual level to feel comfortable managing and addressing individuals/communities on a macro level. My interviewer also noted that if we wanted to switch our concentration to something else, like Clinical Practice with Individuals and Families, we should alert them now and they'll add our names to that pool of applicants. I'm really considering switching my concentration to the clinical track, but I'm afraid that changing it will compromise my application and decrease my chances of admission, especially since a lot of students apply to the clinical program, so I really need some advice!! Does anyone have some insight or experience with Hunter's admissions process? What should I do???
  9. I e-mailed NYU yesterday asking when they'll be sending out decisions and this is what they said... We are sending out decisions fast and furious and do apologize for the delay. Many are going out in the next week or so. Thank you for your patience. -------------------------------------------- HURRY UP ALREADY NYU!!!

  11. Congrats to you all!! I'm going crazy over here though - I still haven't heard back from Hunter or NYU. NYU said I should hear back within 4-6 weeks after I applied...IT'S BEEN 4-6 WEEKS ALREADY!!! Ugh, I just need to know :-/ I have a question though. In general, if you apply to a standard 2-year program, is there an interview process you have to go through? or is that just for accelerated/Advanced Standing applicants?
  12. audrey 1018, when did you submit your application to NYU?
  13. Thanks! and you too! The suspense is seriously killing me
  14. Hey guys I'm a first time poster and I'm anxiously waiting for admissions decisions. In addition to Masters programs in Social Work I also applied to two programs in Genetic Counseling, which I'm also interested in. For Social Work, I applied to Columbia, NYU, CUNY Hunter, Boston, and I will be submitting my applications to U Pitt and Fordham this week. I got rejected from Columbia :-/ so I really can't wait to hear back from the other schools...hopefully I'll have better luck elsewhere...Does anyone know when NYU sends out decisions???
