  1. I'm not sure if someone addressed this earlier or not but if you grew up speaking a foreign language at home, you're exempt from the language exam. It's as simple as typing a letter and having someone who can vouch for you. JKSIS doesn't advertise this very well (I heard about it through a classmate) but it saved me the hassle of taking the exam.
  2. Yeah this waiting game is getting ridiculous. I'm going to call the three schools I haven't heard from this Wednesday. One of the schools said I would hear by mid-to-late March, another by 1 April, and another said I would receive funding info in the official acceptance letter which I received yesterday...which didn't contain any funding info. :x
  3. Is anyone still waiting to hear from schools about funding? I'm grateful to have been accepted to the programs to which I applied but so far I've only heard from 1 school about funding. 3 of the 4 schools want a response on whether or not I'll enroll by 15 April. I feel like two weeks isn't enough time to make a decision on where I want to spend the next two years of my life. Should I call the schools that haven't responded yet to see what the deal is?

  5. I applied to BU's MAIA program but haven't received a response from them yet. I don't know much about the reputation of the program. (I was looking for 2 year IR programs which didn't require applicants to have a strong econ background and which weren't located in DC.) I do know this is the first time they're offering the MAIA as a two year program. Also, Andrew Bacevich is a professor at BU. (I've seen several of his columns published in the WaPo and the NYT.)
  6. Cool poll! I selected International - Conflict Resolution, Security Studies and Policy - Theory, History. I'm interested in the development of civil society and the progression towards liberal democratic governance.
  7. I applied to the University of Denver's International Security program and received an acceptance email on 29 January. I haven't received any financial aid information yet though. I also applied to Syracuse's IR program but haven't heard back from them yet. Hang in there! You might receive an email later depending on when you submitted you application. I think I submitted mine in mid-December.
