Maybe it's payback for your joke! ;-)

Wow, 174 users reading this topic right now. CRAZY!
-
I got "definitely" for the awards being announced tonight and "definitely" for me receiving one! I think this thing is totally legit.
-
Because we're all obsessed!
-
BLARGH!! I JUST WANT TO KNOW. Not a very original sentiment, but I can't help it.
-
Well is this the first "scheduled maintenance" that's happened this application season?
-
Tomorrow could be the day! I'm one-third dread, one-third relief, and one-third hopeful about finding out this week.
-
Wow, everyone stopped posting yesterday. I guess no new news, means no new posts. I'm just bumping up the topic!
-
I agree! I just want to know, even if I didn't receive an award. I'm the most impatient person ever!
-
Last year they said this: "Trying to logon to the rating sheets (or requesting a lost password) goes to a 404 [page not found?] now, rather than going to "Access to rating sheets is now closed"." right before they found out about awards a couple days later.

Can someone give me a link for this facebook page people keep talking about?

I just cannot believe Stanford didn't even answer my call!
meankney replied to liuaqiang1's topic in Waiting it Out
Not sure if this applies to your program as well, but at least for the geology department they haven't sent any notifications out to anyone. They didn't even make their final decisions until last week (March 20) and they are on Spring Break now, so I probably won't know anything until next week. I think they are having to cut back their budget a lot so it is taking them a lot longer to decide who to let in. Good luck! -
So, I just turned down my offer at Washington State University. Man, that is a hard thing to do. Unless I hear from Stanford or get off of the wait list at UOregon/Oregon State, I will probably be headed to Madison in the fall. I decided to turn down WSU because the research there and at UW-Madison is very similar and UW-Madison is a more prestigious school. Also, I am in touch with a UW-Madison professor and I am super excited about a project I would work on if I go there!
-
Not sure if this is already posted somewhere else on this thread, but... I am pretty sure I will be in Madison this fall and am wondering about when I should start looking at an apartment. Should I start looking right now? What are the best online sites to find one?
-
Thanks for the well-wishing! Yeah, I'm sure I would've been fine waiting until April 1-3 to visit as I was going to originally, but I'm too impatient to wait that long to find out if I got in or not! She said that the head of grad admissions told them the deadline is March 20 for final decisions, but you know how that goes. Hopefully we'll both get in!
-
I contacted two of the professors I talked to during the admissions process yesterday and heard positive things from both of them. I even got invited to visit Stanford!
-
So, looks like I am leaving for Stanford tomorrow and coming back on Friday! It's crazy and last minute, but I really want to give myself the best chance of being admitted that I can. I'm so excited!
-
So I got invited to visit Stanford. My potential advisor is deciding between me and three other people and can take one to two students. The problem is that I will be gone on Spring Break with my family March 7-15 and she will be gone March 15-26. They are supposed to send out their final decisions on March 20...not really sure where that leaves me since I won't really get a chance to visit until after that "deadline." I could totally fly out tomorrow and come back Friday before I leave on Saturday...the flights are only $300...Hopefully she emails me back and lets me know if that's OK by tonight!

This is random, but I was just looking at this forum and an add about reading Ann Coulter's column was on it. Gag. Ann Coulter is the devil. Seriously. She is what's wrong with America. People need to quit voting just to get THEIR party elected and start voting for the person who will be best for the country. I didn't vote in the poll because it only came up with results but I'm about as liberal as they get.
-
Agreed!!! I don't want to wait around for weeks. Just tell me so I can get on with my life.
-
Skinkididoo, Do you think I should just give up the Stanford torch if I haven't heard from them yet? When did you get this invite? In other news: I'm so tired of all of this waiting.
-
Ugh. I haven't heard anything from 4 out of my 6 schools. It's killing me. I am the queen of impatience and this is the worst! I hate being in limbo and having to wonder if they've A) rejected me and not sent the letter yet, not reviewed my application yet or C) put me on some lame waitlist. I'm going crazy. Seriously.

I got into the University of Wisconsin-Madison with an offer for guaranteed funding for 5 years and a "prestigious" research assistantship (their words, not mine). This is great, but I really wanted to end up on the west coast. UW-Madison is one of the top 10 geology graduate schools in the country. I found out I was waitlisted by University of Oregon (which is about #30)...and now I am waiting to hear back from 4 other schools. I'm happy about my acceptance, but I can't help but think, why don't the other schools want me just as much/why haven't I heard from them, too? The difference I'm worried about is that I got a chance to visit Madison in the fall because it is fairly close to my undergrad. I couldn't afford to fly all over the country to visit the other ones and now I'm afraid that might have been the kicker that would have gotten me accepted rather than rejected or waitlisted. I guess I shouldn't be spazzing out because no one else has really heard much or anything from my other 4 schools, but I can't help it.
-
I sent them an email just asking if they had any idea about their timeline and they've already made all of choices for their first round of offers...so I'm guessing you're probably waitlisted, too.
