According to the results search, they contacted on Feb. 1st last year, though it obviously varies some year to year.

AnkiDroid works with Unicode Greek. I highly recommend Anki in general since it is a smart flashcard program with fancy algorithms and what not.
-
If previous years are any guide, next week will be a big week for hearing about interviews. Good luck, everybody.
-
Yes, that is unwelcome news. I suspect that means anyone else specializing in NT/Early Christianity didn't make the cut.
-
For those applying to UNC, I have it on good authority that notifications are going out by subfield, so there is no cause for concern that someone has already received an offer unless you are in the same subfield.
-
I guess there is the chance that the same few people will end up being invited to interviews at all the top schools which would naturally result in lots of people getting in off of waitlists.
-
Don't worry, GREs aren't everything. I've seen people get interviews with lower scores than people who didn't. It's the whole package. Despair should always be saved for April 15th.
-
Sorry, I only asked about NT.
-
Just assuming. Well, I'm guessing they don't have 5 slots available. It's hard to imagine them accepting more than 2 or 3 people in a year. So, that would leave 2 or 3 people who got interviewed but didn't get an initial offer. I'm guessing that the waitlist will be populated with those people first (assuming they didnt have a terrible interview or something), leaving maybe 1 or 2 waitlist spots for the non-invited. The odds of them working their way down to someone not invited seems slim. That's just a guess, though.

I know of someone that happened to as well. However, I saw they invited 5 people in HB this year. If they did the same for all specialties, then the chances that someone not invited will get in off the waitlist are basically nil. Duke is a different story. I know people here currently who didn't get an invite and ended up in the program.
-
For anyone wondering, I have confirmed that all Duke NT interview requests have gone out.
-
What I've heard is that US applicants = $$$, so they accept a lot of them.
-
That was an amazing opening line: "Hello, my name is Kent Hovind."
-
OK, that makes me feel a lot better.
-
We must have all overestimated the importance of the GRE since someone who scored 80th percentile on the Verbal got into UNC and an interview at Duke.
-
Has anyone logged in to UNC and seen a rejection notice?
-
LOL Kent Hovind

Again only one person has posted. I guess all the hot shots have skipped Grad Cafe.
-
I know a guy who went there after going to a moderate Evangelical seminary.
-
That is right on par with what I've heard, so I'm guessing your source has the right of it.
-
What Poppycock. My GRE Math was pitiful, but I've always done well in language courses.
-
For those wondering, I've heard off the record that several sub-disciplines at Duke haven't made any final decisions let alone sent any notifications. The source had no knowledge of what the NT people had or had not done. I'm really starting to wonder if a POI jumped the gun/sent something unofficial or something like that.
-
I'm at Duke but I don't have any insider knowledge, so I'm just speculating here. I would guess whether more are coming depends on who they had do the emails. If it was the program coordinator or something, I'm guessing it would be fairly rapid fire. If it was the POIs or whatever prof they decided you'd fit best with, then there might be some staggering. I did log into my stuff and see that they haven't sent any rejections yet, so who knows.

Yep, that one stings a bit.

Wow, 5 days is a fast turnaround.
