  1. This juxtaposition is very confusing.
  2. I wish UT Austin would get on the ball.
  3. Audition for the part of town drunk.
  4. I don't know about PTS, but at the seminary I went to you could test out of the two Intro to NT classes, the two Intro to OT classes, Intro Greek, and Intro Hebrew. That was it.
  5. I had a friend who started there last year, and he heard back from them dead last.
  6. I had the same unpleasant experience.
  7. I was waitlisted too, though I was emailed about it some time ago (and again today). No idea what the odds are, but I heard they invited 5 for 3 openings.
  8. I've got two famous profs and nothing but a wait list, so it can't be some magic component.
  9. Yes. Technically, they don't create the wait list until after interview weekend, but I'm supposed to let them know if I accept an offer somewhere else so it sounded like a wait list email to me.
  10. Well, they don't interview people they don't want, so it isn't a bad thing.
  11. You wouldn't happen to be in the Triangle, would you? If so, I can shed some light on the ThM.
  12. The GPR hasn't conducted interviews yet, so that isn't possible. It's a troll, I'd bet.
  13. My buddy is sticking to his story, so I'm as confused as ever. As for someone lashing out at Onoma, I hardly think I bear any culpability for that as you seem to imply. Besides, the theology notifications that came today fit the timetable I was given exactly. It is possible then that there was a communication breakdown between my buddy and the prof, or that interview notifications are still coming. Who knows. I certainly didn't accuse anyone of anything, and I, in fact, urged caution.
  14. I don't know what to believe. Onoma has been posting here a long time, but my buddy denies his timetable is possible. So something is amiss, whatever it may be.
  15. I know someone there currently who says a Prof told him the same thing
  16. Let's not break out the pitchforks just yet. I'm hoping there is some sort of misunderstanding. When did you email?
  17. Ok, I just ask because I know someone at Baylor and they were told by a Prof this afternoon that the Prof was going to a meeting this evening for them to make admissions decisions. So, I'm getting very contradictory information right now.
  18. Ehrman is great. Achtemeier, Green, and Thompson is good if you want something a bit longer or perhaps more theological.
  19. Two questions: 1) What time did you get this email? 2) Was it from a POI or from department staff?
  20. Thanks for the information. That is quite disappointing. I thought I had a good shot there after a promising meeting at SBL.
  21. Umm, it looks like someone made sock-puppets to downvote Balatro. That is just bizarre.
  22. One of them listed GRE scores though, so if it is just trolling that is weird. Regardless, people in Religion should ALWAYS list their subfield.
  23. The Baylor notifications don't list their specialty so I don't know what to make of them.
  24. Maybe this has changed recently, but Bart told me last year when I took a class with him that they don't usually do waitlists at UNC. They gauge how many students they currently have and projected graduations, then decide the number of offers to make. If no one accepts in that subfield, they just don't have anyone new. They then balance it out by accepting more people the next year.
