  1. So now they are sending email rejections on a Saturday ... Check the "Results" page
  2. Hey! I received a very decent offer from WashU for a PhD in ECE. The supervisor is a legend, he is an IEEE life fellow and a renowned scientist yet the school is ranked 50 in Electrical Engineering Schools in US. Does the name/rank/reputation of the University where one gets his/her PhD have a major effect later on? Thank you!
  3. Annual tuition fees for international PhD students are $13k. http://www.mcgill.ca/student-accounts/fees/grad/intern/phdfulltime/
  4. Um, I'm pretty sure the assistantship from this specific University is not a tuition waver.
  5. Guys, I got an offer entailing a graduate assistantship (that is not a tuition waver) of an annual stipend that can barely cover the tuition fees. So how do you see accepting the offer and when I get there I search for other sources of funding (fellowships/assistantships ... )?
  6. Update: I received a letter from ECE and letter from GPS both stating only a graduate assistantship from the supervisor. I was not selected for any of the Doctoral/Tuition awards which means that I have to pay for tuition. That simply means a rejection for me. What a waste.
  7. Hey! I received an acceptance letter from McGill University, ECE department for a PhD degree starting next fall. I'm having difficulties understanding the funding information in the letter. Would you please check it out: " .... to inform you that you are being offered a graduate assistantship by Professor X for a period of XX months, ...... The stipend for the duration of employment is $XX,XXX each year .... " The letter does not mention anything about the tuition or the admission fees. Does this letter imply that I will have to pay for tuition/admission? I emailed their graduate office but no reply so far. Thank you, Hatem
  8. Okay, my Minerva status has just changed to "Admitted Pending Final Results", my Final MSc transcripts. I was not asked to do an interview either. So excited by this acceptance
  9. Hey Casey, That's a good idea. I'm tending to accept ECE McGill's offer too. I will be relocating form Cairo, Egypt.
  10. My online status in Minerva is "Further Review Required". I contacted the supervisor and from what I understand it's just a matter of time until I receive the acceptance letter. I'm still worried that GPS might change the decision or something.
  11. Yeap, same happened here. I contacted the supervisor and he made some more points clear. This amount of money is determined by him/her, GPS will have to send the official letter only. You should contact your supervisor.
  12. I have applied to two Canadian Universities; U of T and McGill. I received an offer from McGill yesterday.
