  1. I am so nervous. I was initially excited because it's sooo hard to get into a program but now I'm scared. I just want to do well and impress the faculty who gave me a spot in the program.
  2. Gotcha, that makes sense. I'll have to double check and see if it's a diagnostics class. Thanks again!
  3. Yes, my Fall schedule says Practicum 1 on it, I guess all this stuff is coming with me! Thanks for the feedback
  4. I have a ton of things that were gifted to me by two retired SLPs. Should I bring that stuff with me to graduate schol? It's artic cards, language cards, pragmatics and language board games, etc. Or leave it in my parents garage until I get back from graduate school? I don't want to seem obnoxious by bringing a bunch of "fancy speech stuff" with me.
  5. I'm doing the 8 weeks. It's prety demanding, a lot more demanding that I expected. But then again, I have nothing to compare the demands of an online class to because I've never taken one. But I'll definintely say I'm learning a lot. I'd recommend it. Just be prepared to hit the ground running once class starts. :-)
  6. This kind of describes what I'm doing right now. I'm taking 3 leveling courses online and one class traditionally, at an actual school.
  7. I'm finishing up a post-bacc program at CSU Dominguez Hills. Look into it if you're interested, it was a good program :-)
  8. Twinguy7, Have you heard from Eastern New Mexico? I got word from them yesterday via postal.
  9. Danielle90 Yes I heard back last Tuesday via email.
  10. Hi jmeister2000, I also interviewed at CSU San Marcos, it went pretty well I think, but I'm not sure what they're looking for. On their website they gave the impression that everyone gets invited to the interview no matter what. Did you get this impression? There was quite a few people there!
  11. Im currently in a post-bacc program at CSU Dominguez Hills. It's a two-year program and they offer classes in the evenings. The cost of this program is substantially cheaper than other post-bacc programs or leveling-programs. I think its because it's managed out of the open university/extended edcation department. I just started this Fall and I really like it. The only downfall is it can only be completed in two years. Some programs will allow for you to finish the pre-reqs in one year and the grad work in two years but for this program the pre-reqs will take two years. I would look into it if your in the LA area. A lot of folks don't know about it. Also CSU Long Beach and Fullerton have a post-bacc program. The University of Redlands and Loma Linda also have three year programs for those who don't have a BA in CSD but they're crazy expensive because they're private universities. Hope this helps!
  12. Since there is so much talk about the cost of tuition, I thought I'd ask a question about the subject. In my particular situation I simply just want to get my master's in speech-language pathology and start a career as a speech pathologist in either a school or a hospital. Now if I can get the same degree at a less prestigious state school why would it be in my best interest to attend a private school? I'm hoping you all can help me understand. I'm already $35,000 in debt from undergrad and I just want to start a career. When does the prestige of the university you attend matter in this field and when does it not?
  13. I applied to CSU Long Beach and CSU Los Angeles for their post-bac programs. I was a bit naive about the competitiveness of the SLP programs when applying so I'm not feeling real confident about my chances. My gpa is on the low side, 3.3.
  14. Has anyone heard back from schools in California, or has anyone applied to California schools?
