  1. can't agree. MBA is totally different from PhD. In all MBA information sessions I went to (Fuqua, Darden, Yale, Ross, Cornell, etc.), the admission officers clarified that applicant should submit "professional recommendations, not LoR from university professions".
  2. Hi clover, glad that you offer to help. The deadline for GSPP is 2nd Dec. and I've given up Harris and Sanford due to unfavorable information about them. I already submitted my application, so thanks again~
  3. What you have in mind? in terms of international component, maybe MPA, or master in international development and sort of things, is a better choice than MPP. I kinda regret that I even bother applying MPP.
  4. Glad that you saw my post and replied, thanks very much! I did heard that GSPP, or UCLA, USC, has less international component than other programs along the east coast. At first I thought it's acceptable since I don't like a program with too many international students anyway...... But taking a second thought about it, a domestically focused program won't give me much edge in working in China or other places other than the US. I almost regret that I did apply last year... Thanks again for your advice!
  5. true, except that the Goldman adcom's answer costs $90 and the risk of rejection......
  6. I can help you. I applied last year but was denied. PRGS is very selective. I would say that most of admitted fellows are referral cases. PRGS usually recruit from schools that have private connection with it and take recons from its familiar professors. At least that is how it works here in China. One of my upperclassman got in because PRGS signed an contract with our college to give referred students interview opportunities. As far as I know, PRGS is more like a consulting firm. Fellows actually work on projects and publish reports, and get paid! You can look at their websites - fellows name list - profile, try to find anyone who has any kind of connection with you and contact them via email. That actually works.
  7. Thanks, that's kinda reassuring and I agree with you. I know that time's rough in the states and many undergrads have trouble finding a job this year. Hopefully it can come through! but I still need someone to look at my SOP ........I'm rewriting it, the (I don't even know how many) time.
  8. Need help on GSPP SOP!

  9. Hi everyone, I am an international student graduated last year. I applied for Fall 2011: Schools Admitted To: NYU Wagner($0)/ CIPA($25000)/ Heinz($3000)/ USC(half tuition) Schools Rejected From:GSPP/Harris/Sanford. Undergraduate GPA: 3.8 equivalent GRE Quantitative Score: 790 GRE Verbal Score: 660 GRE AW Score: 3.5 Years of Work Experience: 1 I ended up not going anywhere and started working at a top ranking consulting firm. Yet I wanna keep trying for GSPP (because I don't have to provide GRE or TOEFL or referral letters if I'm reapplying). (why not MBA? well, Chinese have very different mentality about grad schools. Doing a MBA in the states and going back to China to continue consulting is not worth the price) I wanna make it count this time so I really need to work on my SOP! Would somebody ever got in to these schools stand up and throw some light on how to impress the adcom and what qualifications should I exhibit and especially emphasize when applying? For example, interested in development / social equity/ teamwork / consulting, etc? I noticed that GSPP has extraordinarily few Chinese....so should I even bother reapplying?
  10. Hi I already PM you. I'm reapplying and it's great if you can help me tailor my application to GSPP. Would you take a look at my SOP and give some suggestions? Must I express my interest in energy/environment/sustainability?
  11. Hi

Im also in international graduate ....planning for a deferral ...have 2 years full time experience working as a n analyst with and Indian IT firm....so any response from from cornell regrading deferral

  12. heard from USC deferral: One year max and the TOEFL must be within two years from the first date you wish to start classes otherwise we'd need a new one. in case any one need it, too. waiting to hear from CIPA...
  13. 90% employment? employed in the states? doubt the figure. obviously didn't take international students into consideration.
  14. Thanks for the info!~~ I hear from my friends who're in CIPA that Ithaca makes things more difficult for international students, plus high living cost ... .. you know I don't really have channel to more info, actually that's why I'm here, to hear from you guys.... CIPA's website provides so little stuff.....I may have to call Jennifer and ask about deferral.. As for Deloitte, it is just hard for me to reject the offer since I interned there and am quite familiar with the team and the managers.... $ sure doesn't count. I guess I can save 15K USD max within one year, better than nothing..... what's important is that I get full-time experience, which is not something you can buy. where do you expect to go? hope you hear good news from HKS
