I don't think I can handle another slow day. I still have to hear back from 5 places. That's more than half of my applications. Please put me out of my misery so I can start trying to make a decision.

Yay for all of the Cornell admits...at least someone is releasing information!

My mother is from Mexico and started working before she was even done with high school. She has since gotten her GED. Dad went to college (to play football), but did not finish. He wasn't drafted or anything, he just needed money and the NCAA wouldn't let student-athletes have an outside job. They've never been anything but supportive. There's never been any pressure to make certain grades or enter into a certain profession. It's been nice.

While I can certainly understand your request, I feel like it's a little early to begin asking for that. I know several people who have had a first choice going into the season, but go with another university because of information that they receive at the admissions weekend, whether that be that POIs are too busy during the semester, or that personalities simply don't match up, or other random information that can heavily impact the decision. It's an important decision, it's stressful, and it takes time. Best of luck to you during your season. Like I've been saying, I'm hoping that everyone here gets in somewhere with some fantastic funding. ETA: looks like you beat me to it, ss, but I certainly agree with you.

Thank you for finding that out.

Congrats to the Sunday admits. That's crazy. I wonder if anyone will send out a wave of rejections on vday...

I'l take a Lexus GS350, please. I don't know enough about BMWs and Jags and the like to determine whether or not I'd like having one. The fiancé (a finance/econ guy) wants a BMW M.

Is it probably safe to assume that Northwestern is done? Does anyone have news on this front? Congratulations to all of you who are continuing to hear back from schools! I'm still crossing my fingers for everyone to get accepted with generous funding.
-
Whoa! I thought I was on the high end, but 21 certainly takes the cake.

I'm going straight through. I couldn't imagine doing anything else, really. I work a semi-normal job over the summers (summer camp at a gym), and it is mind numbing. A regular job would probably be bad for my soul, or at least my sanity. No gap year of working for me.

Yes. I definitely thought that today would be another day full of notifications. Maybe tomorrow will be more eventful. Alternatively, everyone could be making decisions over lunch, which would make the afternoon much less lame. At this point, I'm more hoping for good news for friends than anything else. I feel guilty for saying that I wanted options earlier in the thread. #friendsdeserveoptionstoo #guilt #fingerscrossed

Thanks, congratulations to all of the admits everywhere. I'm looking forard to meeting some of you at various universities' admit events.

I am planning to, what about you?

Notre Dame is a yes. I'm still trying to get over the shock of Chicago. I have a chapter of my thesis due on Friday, as well as a test. Focus=gone.

If you applied to Baylor and were not invited for a campus visit, I think you can check here to see if you are still in the running. Some applicants have been rejected. If there is nothing there, do not worry. The ad com will probably not be making any more decisions until late February.
-
I am in at Chicago for theory as well.

I'm going to try to not worry about Northwestern. Serenity now!

Let the finger crossing and excessive e-mail refreshing begin...again. ETA: And up goes another acceptance. Looks like they are beginning to roll in. Best of luck, especially to those who haven't heard anything back yet. Is it so terrible that I want options? I'm jealous of those with more than one acceptance, even though I know I'm lucky to have even one.
-
If you don't mind my asking, has your status been updated on GATS, or did Prof. Reno let you know of the decision in the e-mail?
-
Same on the request for info on the Northwestern acceptance. I didn't think they'd be notifying this soon. Congrats to the accepted person!
-
All of these acceptances are awesome! It would be pretty neat if everyone on the forum got accepted with funding somewhere this cycle.

I thought the half-time show was fantastic. My teams are the Cowboys and the Steelers, so I didn't really have a reason to watch the game. Did anyone have a favorite commercial? I loved the m&m one with the LMFAO song.

There goes Duke. While I had already assumed rejection, it's nice to actually know the decision. Received my e-mail @ 10:10. @adblanche-perhaps you are still in the running

Someone just googled my name+my alma mater. Sweet baby Jesus, are they making the decision now? *in my head* Prof 1: Her SoP was nice Prof 2: Her scores are right around what they need to be Prof 3: Hmmmm, I googled her and I don't quite like her look...reject Gah.
