  1. I'm in Kingston, Ontario, and I just got my SSHRC MA letter today. I didn't get the scholarship, which I'm actually fine with. Carleton has offered me several scholarships, and they've been very gracious in changing their offer to me several times so that it lines up with the requirements of the military program that I will be studying under. Even if I had gotten the SSHRC, the fact that it took them so long to send a response was not cool, even when I told them I needed to know asap because of timings and such in my military chain of command. Thus, I probably would have had no choice but to turn it down anyway. I know everyone wanted to know as soon as possible, but when posting messages, etc are on the line, waiting too long means losing out entirely. So, I'll still be off to Carleton, and good luck to all those who applied for the SSHRC, whether you got it or didn't.
  2. I just hope everyone is successful at getting their scholarships, I'm sure everyone has worked super hard towards them. Happy Easter, and good luck everyone! (Unless you take an award that I could have gotten, then I don't like you anymore. ) Just kidding, good luck, and keep everyone informed if you hear anything pertinent.
  3. Bahaha, it's actually "she," and I've been accepted into Carleton and RMC, but I need the SSHRC so I can go to Carleton (DRDC will automatically give me a scholarship if I stay at RMC). And I'm pretty sure if it was a hostage situation, scholarships are probably not the best choice of conversation.
  4. Sorry, should have been more specific - I'm an MA applicant, and I called the secretary at the office for the Joseph-Armand Bombardier scholarship.
  5. I called this morning, because I have a deadline to meet to notify my schools whether I accept or not, plus my military chain of command needs to know asap so I can get processed in time. When I called a few weeks ago the secretary said that they were meeting in mid-April, and she said today we would not be receiving any notifications until we get our results by mail by the end of April or early May. So, I'm really hoping it's soon, otherwise I'm going to have to turn down my schools, both of which are quite prestigious.
  6. Well, if I don't hear by the end of April, I will call back and ask for the results, because I need to know as soon as possible for my military posting message to come through. The military aspect makes the whole process so much more complicated. Oh well!
  7. I called SSHRC last week and asked about the when the results for the Joseph Bombardier scholarship would be announced. The woman I spoke to said that they don't even sit to make the decision until mid-April, so we should be hearing the results by the end of April. And I didn't get a letter or anything from SSHRC either saying my application had been received - it was forwarded through my current university (RMC). I may not have gotten a letter because apparently as a ROTP (Regular Officer Training Program) cadet, one SSHRC scholarship is held aside for ROTP applicants per year. I have absolutely no proof of that though, that's just what I was told. If I get the scholarship, I'm going to Carleton (NPSIA); if not, I'll be staying here at RMC under DND funding. Fingers crossed!
