  1. Today is a goooood day! I got off of the St. Xavier waitlist. Is anyone here planning on going there?
  2. I believe that UT Dallas and University of Central Florida both do, but I don't know any details about it.
  3. I found out today that everyone who was selected from the SXU waitlist should have heard by Monday. There is still a chance that there will be a third round, but the person who I spoke to on the phone pretty much told me that if I had another option I should accept it...soooo, I guess that is what I will have to do. I know that I probably sound like a huge brat because of my other acceptances, but I can't help being really upset about it It is where I had pretty much had my heart set on going for about a year now.
  4. That is a hard one, leesta. You probably couldn't go wrong either way! I don't know that much about either school...but just based on what you said about them, I would probably lean towards SDSU if it was me...significantly cheaper, closer to your boyfriend (I think that is what you meant?), and still a really good program... On another note, is there anyone else on here who is still hoping to hear about the St. Xavier waitlist? The waitlist letter said "after April 20th"...I know that it has only been 5 days, but I am starting to lose any hope that I had about it.
  5. I'm still waiting too...the original waitlist letter that I got said "after April 20", sooo I guess that I will hopefully know pretty soon.
  6. I have a random question for people who were waitlisted to a school...did your letter say something about letting them know if you wanted to be taken off of the waitlist? SXU's waitlist letter didn't mention that, which I thought was kind of weird. But maybe that is normal, and schools just expect that people will let them know if they decide on another school? I haven't given up on SXU yet...but since it wasn't mentioned in the letter I'm just really hoping that others will have decided on their own to do that, in the event that they have made another decision.
  7. No problem! It's a really helpful site, and I would be interested to see what some of the people on there say about your question also
  8. I don't have an answer to this, because I am starting grad schol next fall also...but I wanted to suggest that you also post this question on the speech pathology livejournal site. There tends to be a lot of people on there that are knowledgeable about this type of question http://speechpathology.livejournal.com/
  9. Thanks for sharing that story. Things like that actually make me feel a lot better! I am thinking similarly to you. I am not totally giving up on St. Xavier yet...but in the very likely situation that I am not one of the beginning round people to get off of the waitlist (I will probably wait until early-mid May), then I am giving up on it and fully committing myself to my second choice. If that happens, I will just accept it as what was meant to happen, and assume that there is something great there waiting for me, educationally or otherwise.
  10. I agree! I still have a school that I haven't heard from...and I'm no longer considering that school, so I'm not worried about it...but it is just really weird to me that these schools would risk losing students by not making their decisions until so close to April 15th, or even after that date. Congrats to everyone who has made a decision!
  11. Good luck, you never know! I am still waiting in the off chance that I manage to get off the SXU waitlist, but I'm not expecting to. Sooo, I'm pretty sure that I am going to UT Dallas. I can relate to what you said about how you are getting excited for Northeastern, though. I'm working up my excitement about UTD
  12. NorcalSLP...I saw your sig and I just wanted to let you know that I just recently turned down my Marquette offer...I hope that helps you!!
  13. Oh no, that's awful :/ I'm sorry. Hopefully they are able to do something for you.
  14. When I visited Dallas, there seemed to really not be all that much going on downtown. Is it as dead as it seemed, or was I just there are the wrong time?
  15. Do you guys have any thoughts about visiting schools that you have been waitlisted to? I'm kind of toying with the idea, partly so that I will be ready to accept quickly if I do manage to get off the waitlist, and partly in the hopes that it will help my chances by showing that I really have interest in the school. But I'm not sure...I could see that maybe it could help me, because like I said it would show my interest. But I can also imagine that they would see through whyI was visiting and they might be annoyed that I was taking up their time. Or otherwise it wouldn't be positive or negative...and it just wouldn't do anything at all to help me, and I would end up wasting time and money when I don't get off the waitlist. Opinions?
  16. I just talked to someone at SXU...I didn't ask if everyone is on the waitlist (but that seems to be the case, just based on the results board). For anyone here who was wondering about their waitlist- I was told that the typical pattern is that around 17 people accept from the first group of acceptances, and then after they they sent a second round of acceptances, and sometimes even a third round. Unless we are in one of those other rounds of acceptances, we won't hear anything until we are offically rejected. The first round should go out right around April 20th.
  17. Thanks for the advice, Klsr2thedge and GandalfTheGrey! I am just soooo ready for this whole process to be over.
  18. I am facing a dilemma... I found out today that I was waitlisted to the school that I really want to go to The letter said that we wouldn't find out more until after April 20th...and just based on the results board from last year, I'm guessing that I won't actually hear back from them until later than that. Most of the decision deadlines for the schools that I have been accepted to are April 15th...buuuut UT Dallas (which is probably my second choice) has no deadline. Although there is no deadline, I think that it might reeeeally be stretching it if I go into May and still don't give them a decision. The last time that I was in contact with someone at Dallas, I said that I was waiting until I had heard back from all of my schools before I made my decision...but like I just said, May just seems like too long to wait. Do you guys think that, since they don't have a deadline, it would be okay for me to just stay quiet about my decision until I hear back from SXU?? Or should I email and explain my situation? (but then I feel like it would be awkward if I ended up going there, since they would know that I was only there because my first plan hadn't worked out) Or should I accept with UT Dallas and then take it back later if I get into SXU? They never mentioned anything to me about a deposit...does that mean that there isn't one, or is that typically not brought up until after the decision is made? ooooor, just tell me honestly if you think that it would be best for me to give up on SXU? I really don't know what to do...and I know that I have options and I shouldn't complain, but I can't help it....I'm sooooo upset that I didn't get into SXU
  19. I'm not sure. I actually haven't heard anything at all yet.... I'm hoping that my letter is just being really slow at getting to me. Good luck on getting off the waitlist!
  20. I applied for Fall. You should hear back pretty soon about Summer, right? GOOD LUCK!
  21. I really hope that I hear from St. Xavier tomorrow!! If not, I will be out of town for a few days I don't know why, but somehow I have this nervous feeling that I didn't get in. I know that I have other good options and it wouldn't be the end of the world, but it's one of my top choices, so I really hope that I am wrong!
