  1. Aww thanks!! USF is definitely lucky to have you!!
  2. It was awesome meeting you too!! Let me know what you end up deciding. I'm still waiting on FAU, UCF, and USF, but its looking like I'm going to accept at FSU. I drove around town with my friend today and found a ton of potential places to live so let me know if you need any insight in that area!
  3. Nope! I went to preview day at FSU yesterday and they pretty much convinced me to go there haha. But I'm still waiting to see what happens with the schools I haven't heard from yet. I hope this next week gives me some clarity!
  4. It's so last minute and unorganized. I'm starting to think this is their way of weeding some people out :/
  5. YAAAYYYYY!!! I am so thrilled for you girl! I knew you'd make it!
  6. Nope, our exams and quizzes are just timed. I went to school at FAU for a few semesters, and I worked for one of my professors so I'm going to ask him. I feel bad though because I know how busy he is. Ain't nobody got time for proctoring!!! Thanks guys, hopefully it goes well!
  7. Sooooooo for the SFSU writing sample we have to find a location and a professor to proctor it... and they're telling us 1 week ahead of time?! Seriously?! I go to school online!
  8. I haven't heard anything from the dept at all. When I check the website it just says my app has been forwarded to the dept for review :/
  9. True! It is strange. I'm not sure what their process is, but it doesn't seem very efficient!
  10. Both people who posted they were waitlisted go to school there though, so maybe they found out directly? Hmmm...
  11. no clue! lol. I have an interview with San Francisco State next week, I'm waitlisted at San Diego State, and I still haven't heard back from USF, UCF, and FAU! I'm hoping to stay in-state to save money, but I really want to move back to CA. It's going to be an interesting couple of weeks coming up. i hope you get some well-deserved good news soon!!
  12. They might have just posted it today although they found out days or weeks ago. I think some people stumble upon the results page and update after the fact
  13. I decided to create a website that provides condensed notes for undergrad courses in CSD. I've taken some CSD classes twice (unfortunately I had to in order to get the 2nd bachelors :/ ), and think it would be a great resource. Am I the only person worried that I'll start grad school and not remember what I learned in undergrad?! Well hopefully this site will help me and anyone else who needs a quick CSD refresher. If anyone wants to help with the creation of the site, let me know! Here's what I have so far... https://sites.google.com/site/slpstudyguide/
  14. Received e-mail today from SFSU stating that I made it to Stage II of the admissions process! I totally did not see this coming. There will be a 'Google Plus' interview (skype?) and a timed writing sample... yikes! I never knew I could feel so many emotions at once, I can't decide whether to be excited or scared to death!
  15. You didn't do anything wrong! Different schools are looking for different things, and no one knows what those things are going into this process (unless you have some connections). All you can do is make the best case possible as to why you want to be a SLP, what you can contribute to the profession, and why you'll succeed in graduate study and be a good representative of the program. It's definitely not all about scores for some schools, and for others it seems to be all about scores, it just depends on the program. Stay positive!!!
  16. I'm in the same program as you, not sure if we're in the same section though. It's gone by pretty fast thankfully, but I find myself struggling to study this semester. I'm burning out! I was working full-time up until February, and we had so many assignments that I had to go to part-time because I was so overwhelmed! Anyway, I definitely know how you feel, I went through it last year and hence the second degree. I was lucky to find a job as a SLP-A, but I made no money and only worked like 8-12 hours a week, so that was difficult. You definitely don't have to be licensed to be a SLP-A, but it looks great on your resume and grad school app. I don't have one! I applied, but I didn't have my prereqs finished. Don't get too discouraged, it only takes one yes! And you can always apply to schools that admit in the Spring like UCF. Best of luck, send me a PM if you want to talk more. I'm rooting for you!!!
  17. I'm having the same internal debate about going back to Tallahassee, I lived there for 8 years! But I had so much fun, and I still have a lot of friends there so I'm weighing the pros & cons. And waiting on the other 5 schools I haven't heard from yet! The wait continues...
  18. Sweeeeet!! We should get lunch or something afterwards. Congrats again on getting your dream school! See you next week
  19. Still waiting on San Francisco State with bated breath...
  20. I'm a USF student and I haven't heard a peep either, don't worry just yet Hopefully we'll hear something by the end of next week!
  21. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, I really hope you get in! #9 is not bad at all!!!
  22. Are you in the USF program? I am in my last semester of that program myself. I suggest getting as much work experience as possible, whether it be volunteer or paid. Apply for the SLP-A license through the FL Department of Health, and try to find a SLP to write the supervisory plan of action for you. Most importantly, if you don't get in this year, re-applying next year with work under your belt ALWAYS looks great on an application. It shows true dedication and commitment to the field. And save up your money to allow yourself to apply to as many schools as possible. I applied to 2 programs last year and was rejected from both, so this year I applied to 11! Best of luck!
  23. Congrats girl!!! I got rejected, not too sad about it because I wasn't going to go there anyway Are you still going to FSU Preview Day?
