  1. I was the acceptance that missed the original acceptance email. They would like a reply by April 1st, but they are willing to give me until April 15th. I am wait listed at a few other schools, so I am waiting to hear back before I make my final decision.
  2. I have tried not to post something on this topic because I thought it might be bad luck. However, I received my first rejection today, and my confidence has certainly been reduced to 0%. While I am happy for the people that are getting accepted, it still makes me feel miserable.
  3. I noticed an acceptance and two wait-lists on the survey results board. If possible, please post your area of specialization and post if you are international or live in the states.
  4. I am beginning to think that I am not coping with waiting to hear from my programs. I constantly check this site. I constantly check my email. I constantly check my phone. Though I have not officially been rejected from any of my choices, I still have a sense of impending doom. I am trying to stay positive, and I agree that running does seem to help me.
  5. I scored a 690 in the 93%. Now it is time to refine the more important parts anyway (it is a shame how much we all panic about the test knowing that it is only useful to survive the cutoff line). Good luck to everyone finishing their apps. Let us meet back up after they are sent in to celebrate (and panic).
  6. University of Maryland, University of Connecticut, University of Delaware, LSU, NYU, Johns Hopkins, Auburn, Vanderbilt, WUSTL, and Rutgers University. I am indeed a dreamer. What program DO you think you might get into? What program do you want to get into the most (I know Cornell is clearly a favorite)?
  7. The percentages are based on the test takers. For example, a more difficult test would possibly mean lower overall scores; therefore, a 500 or 600 may be worth a higher percentage than they may have been with an easier test. I have yet to see someone post that they enjoyed the test (and I talked to a few people after my test, and they all agreed with what most of the members of this site are saying), which may indicate lower overall test scores. Sadly, we will not know for another six weeks.
  8. Though I have nothing to say which has not been said, I offer my agreement to many of the previous assessments. It makes me feel better to know I was not the only one surprised by the format. Clearly the practice tests and study materials, including the Princeton Review, are out of date. I did well on all my practice tests (hovering around the 95%). In fact, on the official ETS test I did even better and finished with plenty of time. However, I was shocked by the test I was given this morning. Many of the selections were pieces that even an English major may never have come across as an undergraduate or a graduate student. If I were to look at a sunny side of the debacle, it would be that I know more about literature than I did before I decided to take this test. Also, since most of us (the test takers) were surprised and frustrated, the scores and percentages will be different. I am frustrated that I have to wait six weeks!
