  1. With my past experience, most schools update their application dates/process during the summer. Their dates and procedures are usually the same as the previous year, so I would go by last year's dates until they update it for the coming year.
  2. I took the old GRE a year ago and HATED it because the computer program they used was ridiculously old fashioned. For example, when you're writing your essays, the 'tab' button on the keyboard cannot even create a tab space on your screen. I also hated the fact that you couldn't see how many questions you've completed compared to the total number the test would be giving you, and the analogies and antonyms tested you on so many random vocabulary words there was no garauntee you could know the definitions of all the choices to even be able to answer an analogy question! The new GRE uses a more technologically advanced program (or so it seems), and it allows you to look at the total number of questions in a section. You can even go back to answer previous questions if you still have time during your section. I say, along with the 50% offer, that it would be well worth taking the new GRE versus the old version.
  3. Making eye contact when publicly speaking is what makes me nervous. So, instead of looking at people's faces, I'll look behind them and it allows me to focus my thoughts a bit better, and then when I feel more sure of myself, I'll make eye contact.
  4. Very true, and I've considered that too! I'm just curious what work environments are like in these two careers. I've been leaning more towards human resources though. The projected employment for the next few years in HR seems promising, as well as the programs. Here's one program I'm interested in now: HRIR Department at the University of Minnesota
  5. If all else fails, I'm going to work at Starbucks or Borders!

Only if you win! Losing is what leads to nervous breakdowns haha.

  7. I'm currently looking into M.A. or M.S. programs for school counseling or human resource management but I am not sure which field to dedicate myself or my applications to. I've researched both fields and I'm interested in both types of careers, but I'd love to learn more 'insider' information about both jobs. Can anyone give me some advice on how to discern what career path to take next?
  8. Thanks emmm, for sharing your strategy with me. When you took your GRE, how did you brainstorm your ideas for the prompts? I think that's what freaked me out the most and led me to having writer's block. I received a prompt that I knew little information about, and I had very little ideas to write with.
  9. Hey everyone, I'm currently registered to take the revised GRE in late September of this year, but I'm not sure of what I can do to improve my writing score. The first time I took the GRE, my mind had writer's block and I scored terribly on the writing section. Can anyone of you share your writing practice strategies with me? I would love some advice on how to improve my writing score! Thanks!
