  1. Sorry to hear about that, melach. I know how you feel, though. I, too, am in the midst of writing my Master's thesis, and I think it's a very intimidating challenge unlike any I've encountered before. I've finished writing the first chapter, which turned out to be 29 pages, and am now doing research and pulling quotations I can use in my second chapter. After I had finished my course work, I felt so burned out that I took two weeks off and didn't do anything academically related. But in May, I realized I needed to get working on my thesis, the draft of which is due mid-July. I have to submit it even earlier, since I'll be going abroad on vacation in early July. I think what was most daunting is the idea of having to produce a 90 to 100 page thesis. It requires a lot of self-discipline, motivation, and passion. I find the research can be tedious at times, but I remind myself to plough through it. If you find you really aren't in the right frame of mind, take a break and return to it when you feel you're ready. I have about 5-6 more weeks to write approx. 60 more pages. I'm scared, but telling myself it's feasible. People have told me they've finished their theses within the span of a month. We'll get there, and we'll be so relieved when we're done! Just keep at it and don't be discouraged. I hope this helps. Best of luck!
  2. Lucky you! Mine is being paid to me in 12 equal monthly installments. Wish I could get it in thirds like you.
  3. Thanks a bunch, philosograd and Dave_WLU! Hmm, I saw that I also have to submit my Notice of Award to my university. Would it be okay to scan and print the copy that SSHRC sent me, or do they want the original copy?
  4. Does anyone know where I can find the Payment Activation Form 1, Part 1 and Part 2, that is mentioned in the letter? Do I need to obtain that from my institution, or can I find it elsewhere? I didn't receive these forms in the envelope SSHRC mailed to me.
  5. Hi there, I'm not sure if I'm posting my question in the right thread, but I figured I'd try asking anyway. I'm going on to do a Master's this fall, and upon acceptance my institution offered me a $6000 graduate scholarship, as well as a TA position worth around 10K for the year. I had applied for both the OGS and SSHRC, and recently discovered that I had won both of them. I will obviously be accepting the SSHRC and declining the OGS, but I was wondering if anyone would know how winning the SSHRC award would affect my internal funding. I know this probably differs on an individual basis and also depends on the institution, but to those of you who found yourselves in a similar situation, around how much did your institution reduce in terms of what they initially offered you? Any information would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
  6. Just checked online, and the results are up for me. Was awarded an OGS !!! Unfortunately, though, since I also won a SSHRC I don't think I can accept it. Hope everyone is able to see their results by now!
  7. Just called my department and was informed I won the SSHRC MA award too! They were surprised I hadn't received anything in the mail yet, seeing as many other applicants already have. I'm thinking I'll probably (hopefully) be receiving something sometime next week. Best of luck to those of you still waiting!
  8. Just called my university and they said they had information about MA students applying to do their PhDs, but nothing as of yet for undergrad students applying to do their MAs. They recommended I called SSHRC directly, which I just did. I was told that the results for MA applicants would be mailed either tomorrow or Friday. Hope that helps to those of you still waiting! The anxiety is really getting to me :S
  9. Master's in English at McMaster, and nothing for me either.
  10. Nothing for me, either. Humanities 101 - English
  11. Congratulations to all you successful applicants I was selected by my university (one of the 20/42 applicants) to continue on in the national competition, and am now anxiously awaiting the results. Wish they would just come already!
  12. I called in to inquire about OGS results, and the person told me that results would be out early May. You can also check online, but apparently they're still in the process of updating everyone's statuses. I'm fretting myself, checking mine several times, but it still hasn't changed yet. Good luck, everyone!
