  1. UC Berkeley Applied Science and Technology PhD
  2. Yeah! So you will attend Stanford right?
  3. Choose the one where you have fellowship or the one where you have ur top choice of professor! On a non-technical front, Caltech is in California
  4. I think plenty of people have heard from Stanford EE. Atleast 2-3 people from my school have heard from stan. If you need an update, u may contact the dept. As far as AST Berkeley is concerned, I know an another person apart from me, who have gotten through so far. No idea about CNS Caltech, but I see that people have got calls from Caltech EE. Best of luck!
  5. Not yet, I am waiting for Harvard DEAS, Caltech APh and Cornell APh... I guess, I may not go to cornell anyway!
  6. Ya.. You won't I am sure! I am interested in Lieber, Narayanmurti and Park. I think Harvard has closely knit groups dominating few areas. So, my vote goes to Harvard! In anycase, this is becoming a thread full of one on one conversation. You can mail me at jayakanth@gmail.com. Best of luck and Keep in touch!
  7. This will make it a level ground. From what you are saying, it will be difficult to make a decision. I think you should really worry about the advisor whom you will work with as this area will largely depend on the group facilities than central facilities (some groups even have their own electron microscopes etc which are generally a central facility).. Also, the professors reputation is a serious thing to consider, if he is not too old.. I won't say caltech is better in ENGINEERING than Harvard.. They are both on equal footing as their disadvantage is being a small engineering department/school. I think you may have a better idea once you visit Harvard. Just curious.. who are the professors whom you are interested at Harvard?
  8. Right now, I will prefer Berkeley. I want to do something which is inbetween science and engineering. I think Berkeley is better than MIT in that respect (particularly, my program Applied Science and Technology). If I get Harvard, I think I will prefer Harvard. Harvard DEAS is very good for my research interest, infact better than Berkeley. Your decision can be different based on your RESEARCH INTEREST. I think if you want to work on devices, fabrication etc. just close your eyes and go to Stanford. There is no univ in the world to beat Stan in that area! (since, you are comparing Stan and Harvard, I made a wild guess). Let me know if I can help you in your decision making process!
  9. congrats anyway! So, where are you going finally? One of the california universities or Harvard?
  10. Hey congrats! Is it an official offer or a mail from a professor?
  11. Congrats Othello! Cali sure rocks! Did you hear from the Harvard DEAS program? Any idea when we can expect the results?
  12. Yeah I did. I got a very short mail about my admit. I am expecting to hear about the aid in the official letter. Some of my friends who got admits from the same program got it with aid so I am assuming it must not be an issue. Anyway, I have offers from MIT and Berkeley, so I may not be attending UIUC. Good luck with your admissions!
  13. I am a dual degree student of Metallurgical and Materials Engg. from IIT Kharagpur
  14. Hi man, I hope you are the second person who had listed the acceptance at the results... Are you planning to attend berkeley? Can you PM me.
