  1. Hey All, I posted in the city guide too, but then realized that this forum seems to be much active, so I figured I'd pop over here too. Anyways, I'll be starting my MA at IU next year, and have started scouring the internet for advice of places to live, how to find apartment-mates, nice areas of Bloomington, etc. Any advice?

    Bloomington, IN

Figured I'd bump this for this year. Im moving to Bloomington to start my MA next year, but am feeling pretty lost in terms of housing. Anyone have advice about good neighborhoods to live in? I'd prefer not to be in an undergrad neighborhood, but it would be nice to live within biking distance of campus. Also, what are good sites to find apartment-mates in Bloomington? Thanks!
  3. Yes! Gotta get my khachapuri on.
  4. Hey there Caucasus friends... I applied to Azerbaijan! For an ETA.
  5. Does any know if/how FLAS grants will be impacted? Will it mean a longer wait to know whether we've received them? Are they in danger of being cut or greatly reduced?
  6. Do you know any U.S. Citizens that have done this program? I've looked at it before and it seems like a really good deal, but even the website seems pretty skeptical about U.S. citizens getting long-term visas... I know some folks from here that have gone to Dehkhoda, but never for more than a couple of months and not within the past couple of years. Also, how familiar are you with the Iranian Studies program? My understanding is that you can do it taught in either Persian or in English-- I've spent the last 4 years studying Persian, so it would be really awesome to an M.A. taught in Persian. Alas, given my citizenship, it seems unlikely :-(
  7. Recommended ETA Azerbaijan! woot.

Yes! Are you staying for the whole year? And have you gotten the acceptance packet from American Councils yet? I got an e-mail, but I'm eager for more information.

i think the link is just for the invite for convocation for scholars. they said on their facebook page that scholars all meet each other at a convocation before leaving, while fellows meet each other to present their projects when they get back. or something like that.

Who else is coming to the Scholarship Convocation? I'm staying in DC for the summer so its pretty easy for me, but I'm excited to meet the other scholarship recipients!

    Boren 2011-2012

hey all, been following along for a while now, just decided to participate because the anticipation is becoming too much! i'm an undergrad scholarship applicant hoping to spend next year studying Persian (Farsi) in Tajikistan. i received a request for a financial update back in march and have been waiting anxiously since then. i'm in the same boat as a lot of the other people here: can't register for classes or confirm summer plans until I know about Boren. Also, still haven't been officially admitted into my study abroad program (any one else waiting on that too?), so I'm double nervous! best of luck to everyone!
