Hmm, I asked for the same, and I'm afraid I won't hear till the beginning of September - which is too late. If I get something I don't like, there's really not much else I can do. Is anyone here looking for a potential flatmate? I have seen some great 2br/3br and 4br apartments that have now been put up for rent. They're affordable, great locations, and would be nice to share with a bunch of other mature graduate students. PM me if anyone's interested.

By grad housing, do you mean the residential services at UChicago? have they already begun to send out placements? I thought those weren't out till August.

I got accepted everywhere and had the option of deciding between two great schools (AU and Chicago) which was a tough decision. Even the stingy programs gave me aid, and I was expecting them to reject me because I was applying straight out of college! If you know what you want to do and have relevant experience (not necessarily full time!)/coursework/passion to back it up, APPLY. Just make sure you are making up for less experience through your GPA/GRE/and LORs.

I agree! The I-House is pricey. McMuffin, how did you apply to the I-House without your UCID? And verdigris, what other options are you looking at?

The application for I-House requires a UCID When are we getting those, do you know?

Those are some pretty strong reasons And UChicago is a great place to be "arranged" married to, haha. I guess I'm only confused because I do not want the policy route to be closed off to me, and going to school in DC has a major advantage in terms of that. That's nice to hear! I guess I will see you there! Do you mind telling me what informed your offer? As in, what attracts you to CIR and what do you think are the major strengths of the program (according to what your professors said, etc)...

I have not yet accepted my offer, because I have a similar offer from AU and am weighing between the two options. What did you like about CIR (as in, what informed your decision to say yes)? If you don't mind me asking.. Also, did you get the feeling that the faculty was friendly and accessible to MA students? At this time this is my major concern.

@McMuffin: are you going to the Campus Day this Monday by any chance? I'm in the same position as you - just trying to figure out more about the program before I accept.

Bump! I would really, really like some more advice you guys!

I'm not sure what "OP" means but if that means the person who started the post: then yes, I did mean that. Two of the second choices (both great schools - I didn't apply anywhere outside of top 10) gave me near-full rides, but SAIS gave me a fellowship of 8k.

If you plan to go back to your country, which is being in DC so important? Getting experience in DC is great, but (in my personal opinion) not worth the price tag unless you want to work in DC/the United States.

That's basically what I want to do as well, though it makes me nervous thinking about it.

Mhmm, and the school I am thinking about is SAIS - only $8,000 - so I'm guessing it's no use?
