  1. Finally made a decision!! *drum rolls* PENN! I feel so relieved that this ordeal is over, but at the same time, it feels like it's just begun! I had a really difficult time deciding between UPenn and Michigan. Even though Michigan was touted as the better program, I felt that I would forever regret not attending Penn. I think what it came down to was location, opportunity, and experience. Penn and Philadelphia are NOTHING like UT Austin (where I am currently), and I wanted a completely different graduate school experience and didn't want to attend an institution that was similar to my undergrad. Plus, I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and just take a chance and follow a dream/inkling. East coast/Philly/Penn are a total 180 from what I've experienced in life and I thought it would be a huge change and a bit of a challenge, something I look forward to! Also, there are tons of schools on the east coast, and this is a chance for me to really get out and explore. I'm really excited and I think I made the right decision. Something was pulling me in that direction and I always follow my gut. It hurt to turn down a job offer I got from Michigan (I really would have enjoyed the people and the department I would've worked in), but I'd like to think that maybe one day I'll be at Michigan for something else. Anywho, I'm babbling, but that's just because I'm excited and scared and this is JUST SO NEW AND SO AWESOME AND SO AMAZING!! Good luck to everyone else in their decision-making and thank you all for sharing in the journey!
  2. Just popping my head in to say helloooooooo to everyone! It's been a while and it seems like people are disappearing due to the decision-making process lol. I'm closer to my decision, leaning 70% to Penn, 30% to Michigan. Just waiting on more GA-ship interviews (and hopefully OFFERS lol) before I make my final decision
  3. Thanks, I'd really appreciate that! And yesterday, I was browsing through rankings again and stumbled across the new ones, which now have Michigan at #1, Vandy at #5, and Penn at #9. I can't win :'(
  4. Struggling to decide between Michigan and Penn. Vandy has been pushed out of my line of view, mostly because I just found their system of doing things to be less organized and streamlined than the other two, which turned me off a bit. Michigan and Penn are two completely different schools, so this decision is kind of rough.
  5. Still seriously struggling with my decision-making. It's looking like Penn and Michigan have pushed Vandy completely out of my radar though. But both of those schools are different in so many ways. I feel like this would be so much easier if I didn't have any options :/
  6. I've been absent due to Spring Break, thank the Lord it's finally here, but it's nice to hear the good news is continuing
  7. Well hey there! Haha I'm still creepily browsing through the group to get a feel for the people and for more info. I'm still trying to get excited about Penn because I honestly was not sure if I would get in, so it's still taking some time to get used to!
  8. Hey everyone! So I know that a lot of people have heard from all or the majority of their schools, so I figured that it was time for a thread to discuss our decision stresses! Program: Higher Education Accepted: Vanderbilt, Michigan, UPenn Rejected: Stanford, Harvard Top Choices: Michigan and UPenn Almost exactly what I predicted to the T, with the exception of Penn, which was a pleasant surprise!! Glad I don't have to choose from too many, but it's still hard trying to make a decision! What about everyone else?
  9. I'm not too sad either! I knew it was a long shot, but I would've sold myself short if I didn't try. But hey, I got into Penn, Michigan, and Vanderbilt, all which are ranked higher for the program I want. So I can't really be upset lol
  10. It's a no for me, but CONGRATS to everyone accepted!!
  11. CONGRATULATIONS!! So much good news from everyone today!
  12. For Higher Education? If so, that's the same program I was accepted to!
  13. Thank you everyone! I'm crossing my fingers extra hard for everyone to get into HGSE, since I know that's the biggie for most! Y'all are all fabulous
  14. I finally heard back from Penn today and I was accepted!!! Thanks to everyone for the kind words when I was on edge waiting! I'm elated right now!!
  15. FINALLY heard back from Penn today, and I was ACCEPTED!!!
