  1. We just had someone visit yesterday, and the other 2 people with offers are visiting next week. I would expect waitlister-s to hear something within the next 2 weeks as these 3 people make their decisions!
  2. We are in the middle of having people visit who have had offers extended to them, so a lot is up in the air as they make their decisions. The faculty may only notify waitlisted applicants who were further down the list once the top of the list is exhausted (no point in telling you you're on the waitlist if you're 20th on the list!). That's my best guess. Good luck!
  3. DePaul has a list of 17; 3 initial offers/waitlists will be sent out within the next couple of days via e-mail just FYI!
  4. Those of you waiting to hear from DePaul--I am a current first year. They have only started looking at apps; don't plan on hearing one way or another until closer to the end of February/beginning of March.
  5. Thank you!! I was also accepted into Wayne State's MA and Elmhurst's MA programs. I was on a "short list" at UConn's PhD program so I sent them all my declining e-mail yesterday. Hope this helps!
  6. Yay! Good to hear
  7. Accepted the offer at DePaul today!
  8. That's awesome that you're an international student! Yes, the sort of "universal" deadline for all graduate school admissions is April 15th. I don't think it's impolite to ask them about your application at this point. With just a couple of weeks left there is a lot on the line for many people and if you can find out sooner rather than later I think that contacting someone in the program is completely appropriate And congrats michelle15!
  9. Is anyone else going to San Diego for the SIOP conference in April??

    DePaul

It doesn't seem like a very unsafe place. Here's a website that has crime stats: http://chicago.everyblock.com/locations/neighborhoods/west-de-paul/?only=crime
  11. I know! It's been hard to be understanding when it's your future on the line...but nonetheless they let me know last week I'm on their "short list"! A month seems like a long time to go without hearing anything...especially since April 15th is coming up so quickly. I would definitely e-mail your contact person about what the deal is.
  12. I applied to their I/O Psychology PhD program and it's been taking that department forever to get back to people as well. I just found out last week about my wait listed status. Not sure if that necessarily means the entire school has been slower but I know they've had a record number of apps this season [at least for my program].

    DePaul

    Anyone else going this Fall?
  15. Got another update! Moved from the wait list at DePaul to an offer of admission!! So excited right now :D
  16. Hey everyone, I finally got an update from my POI at UConn and I'm on their "very short list"! *crossing my fingers*
  17. Wait listed. They sent out official e-mails for wait listers and offers a little over a week ago.
  18. Yup! I'm on the waitlist, but I already knew since I spoke with my POI about it last week.
  19. I wanted to say 2 things about this: 1. Honestly, rankings don't matter. What does matter (and quite frankly in my opinion is the most important thing) is FIT. Fit with a professor's research interests and proof that you are competent in that area through research and publications speaks volumes. 2. To go hand in hand with that, GRE scores aren't going to make up for the fact that you don't have any experience. You need to contact anyone and everyone (honestly ANY kind of psych-related research) so you can to do scholarly research. Unless you're leaning applied, PhD programs won't bat an eye to reject people who don't have the experience coming in. It sucks, but it's the reality of how competitive the programs are. A last note: I am currently an undergrad at Michigan State which I noticed was one of the schools you listed....from what I've heard during this application cycle the competition is only getting more intense. You're looking at the "number one" program in the country, so I guess take that into account with what I've already said about research experience & fit when looking at programs of interest. P.S. Not trying to be rude by any means but going through this application cycle has taught me a lot about what really "matters" when applying!
  20. I found that e-mailing your POIs is very helpful. Mind you I e-mailed my POIs at PhD programs but I really don't think being direct is a bad thing. I told them I had a couple of other offers (which was true) and that I wanted as much information as possible. 2 of the 3 I e-mailed let me know where I stood and one was very gracious in letting me know the program was running behind with making offers. The worst thing that could happen is they don't e-mail you back. In that case I would expect it's because a decision letter may already be in the mail!
  21. Figured I would throw out what I've gathered from e-mailing my POIs at Rice, UConn, and DePaul. Rice- Found out my POI ended up not being able to take a grad student although I was "at the very top of her list"; the department only has 4 spots total UConn- They've been later than usual in sending out acceptances...should be hearing by "early March". DePaul- They are sending out e-mails this week--my POI told me I was "unofficially" wait listed and I have a scheduled call with her tomorrow to see where I'm at. Meh. Edit: DePaul is only sending out 3 acceptances as they only have 3 slots. Apparently they are only allowed to send out as many offers as they have spots.
  22. Has heard anything from DePaul? I'm also wondering when Rice will send out decisions since I saw someone mention U of Houston.....
