yeah screw that 120k for Columbia maybe but.....I personally know a few people from Pratt (painting) and their dedication and work leaves...something to be hugely desired....they market their name and being in the city -

Anyone heard from UCSD and UCLA? I had to change my email AND phone for security reasons a month ago and Im still trying to get both departments to change my email/phone on their file so I can log in and see whats up or they can call me. Its frustrating and im sure im frustrating them calling them all the time. Before people go WHAT WHY DID U CHANGE YOUR CONTACT INFO--- I truly wish I hadn't there wasn't a way around it -

Last few years UCLA has been last week of Feb for acceptances, march for rejections. UCSD was feb 18th last year and apparently this year on Feb 9th some mofos heard back emailed acceptances! Speak up wherever you are. -

Josholas, its nice to see your development this year from last, its definitely an advancement and you can tell you are thinking critically about your concepts. Idk what kind of feedback you are looking for specifically, where are you applying?

I used a separate summary I have about my work that I generally have set aside for grants I apply to. Good luck -
Reapplying and I have a ton of new work, to be honest that I like much better than my old. Should I put a few oldies in to remind the faculty how my work has progressed, if so how many pieces. I am thinking 15 new, 5 old, but would like to push it to even 17 new, 3 old. thoughts? Anyone else proposing a basically new entire body of work, or done it in the past? if so how was it received? Here's my work, most on here is new from this year: www.DoraeliaRuiz.com and by the time I apply I plan to have at least 2 more. New work is page 1, some selected old work is page 2.
-
2nd year here. Last year I got into 3 schools but none seemed the right fit for me. I am still hopelessly into UCLA, giving it a second try. Now living in LA www.DoraeliaRuiz.com

I'm not going to sue anyone, I didnt ship my paintings I had them hand delivered and picked them up, they just broke it while sifting through it I guess. And yeah to whoever said about their handling being bad, while I was there they were ripping my stuff off the walls pretty harshly and I thought then that I was being just a protective mom about my paintings, but I wasnt. I did email in a complaint and an urge for them to be much more careful when people entrust their work with them.
-
it "fell" because he was looking for my "name which wasnt on the back". I'd put my initials. If i had known that wouldve caused him to let it break in half, I'd have written out my entire legal name. So. Ripshit
-
I'm wondering about that, idk. It wouldve been somewhat ok if the guy I was speaking to wasn't half laughing about it and not at all remorseful.
-
Yale decision: denied, wouldve been fine, but then someone at yale mfa called me to tell me that he broke one of my paintings in half and that it wasnt his fault it just happened. Nice
-
I got that email as well but they already sent me a rejection letter, which angers me alot since I probably was rejected because of that notice right there. Not saying I was a shoo in otherwise but to pay that much money and not even be considered and not receive notice about missing items in time....it's just unprofessional. Theyve seemed to have already picked their 8 and it doesnt seem (At this point) that they are going to wait on missing items
-
Hi guys just another "anything can happen story" I was initially rejected from UCSB wayyy back in January informally by email, well I was contacted just now and told I am actually on a waitlist. I wasnt their first round pick so I may not move off the waitlist--but there u go Rejection to waitlist! Anything can happen.
-
if we havent heard from usc are we out?
-
Woke up to flu and (top choice) UCLA Rejection. When I fail I go all out.
-
losemygrip/everyone i horrified by my earlier statement, that would be in the instance that i only ended up with my current acceptances ---1 is a v. unknown school with full funding and they are flying me out for a visit so i will decide once i get there. Another is a top school with 0 funding, so i dont want to swallow the debt. Another is mid/low rep with no word on funding yet. Now if I get into Yale against the odds (33% shot), then I wouldnt turn it down, I'd have to be an idiot. It already sounds like a wonderful place I am just trying not to get my hopes up too much and work on my portfolio until then. Sorry to be private on here all the sudden you all can pm me if u want the schools/more info.
-
would it tho? To work on my portfolio for another year and reapply (not just to ucla obviously) and reexamine my offers then? Or do schools hold grudges if youve turned them down in the past? My portfolio is already much stronger than it was a few months ago, I feel in a year I could be more competitie
-
Tell me about it, considering turning down all my offers and trying again next year all just for another shot at UCLA.
-
NYSS has an march 15th extended deadline
-
thats exactly why i didnt apply to bu, terrible aid, expensive place to live, and high tuition. Many of my current professors went there and while it worked out for them theyve told me to really consider places that fund you
