You guys are all the best! If anyone else applied to WV, don't give up yet: I think I was notified so early because the fellowship deadline is looming and I have some paperwork. Don't worry- it will happen! I cannot enjoy success alone so now I'm just nervous for everyone else. It is certainly a heavy weight lifted often my solders to get this news, but the anxiety is still present. I'm sure you'll all know soon because yours news is coming. It's just so early. I can't believe how early this is - when I applied to MFA and MAs 3 years back, I didn't get a funded offer until the last week of March. Aww, thanks. This does look like a very good offer and it's clear that they really like me, which is a great feeling. I may also just be having some early luck. We'll see - final decisions are so far away! -
I just got a nomination for a fellowship at West Virginia. It looks like an acceptance. What am I supposed to do!? It's started. I love you all so please share good news asap.

No, but YES. Wishbone is the best children's TV show. Children need to get watching that again. I played through an entire Wishbone computer game version of The Odyssey as a kid (google informs me that apparently in 1997 I was *too cool* for wizards but in 1996 I was playing Wishbone video games - gosh, childhood is quick). Also, Wishbone remains my entire frame of reference for Cyrano de Bergerac and The Prince and the Pauper.

I certainly know that *I* would read this board if I were on an adcom. I'd be more surprised if they didn't! I think I'm pretty identifiable if you look hard enough. I hope my Heathers icon + love for animated gifs + recent admission that I haven't read any of The Canterbury Tales aren't going to cause me too many problems. -
I've never seen or read Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings. I know at least Harry Potter doesn't count for this game, but it definitely loses me a million pop culture points. As far as the really canonical stuff that I've skipped, I know almost nothing about The Canterbury Tales. This was really helpful on the subject GRE. I need to just take a Chaucer class already! I also have not read any Oscar Wilde and I've only read one little James Joyce story. Blah!

When have you EVER, in the history of time, received handwritten notes from a professor that were legible? Chicken scratch is the norm. Embrace it. One the other hand, you could type them up up and print, or better yet, compile them ransom-note-style.
