  1. I heard the same thing and share the same sentiments as you. I was planning to apply for Clinical Psych, specializing in Neuropsych, but now I'm not so sure. I also had about a year and a half experience in Psych research and I didn't love it. I feel that getting a Phd is worth the stress if you really love research. Since I don't, I am contemplating exploring another career option. I wish I could be of more help, but I am on the same boat as you. Sometimes I wish I majored in engineering because life would have been easier. I am interested in cognitive neuroscienc and I feel that having an understanding of engineering would be beneficial. Plus, engineers makes a lot of money! I'm not driven by avarice, but I hate being dirt poor with only a BS in Psychology.
  2. Hi guys! This is my first time posting. I'm also planning to apply for a Phd in clinical psych. Do you guys mind answering a few of my questions as well. 1) How did you know you wanted to get a Phd in Clinical Psych? I am planning to get a Phd in that as well, but I am a little unsure. I don't know if I like research, but I need to get a higher degree since a bachelors in Psych means nothing. Plus, I don't know if a MA is worth the money. I am interested in specializing in neuropsychology because I want to be a neuropsychologist, which means I have to get a Phd in Clinical Psych. However, I am not exactly positive I want to be a neuropsychologist. I just need a goal and a career to pursue. By the way, I don't know if I can handle patients with emotional problems, which is one of the reason I wanted to be a neuropsychologist. 2. Do you think I would have a fair chance of getting into a Phd program? I have not published anything yet and I only have about 1 and 1/2 years of relevant research experience ( 6 months co-op in schizophrenia reserach & 3 semester working in NU Psych labs.) As for my GRE (which I took twice), I got a 640 in Verbal ( 670 on the first test), a 750 in Quantitative (a 570 on the first test) and a 4.0 in the essay. I have a 3.94 GPA w/ a BS Psych. Does it look bad that I was unemployed for a year after I graduated in 2010 and currently working as a temp in the Cardiology department at a hospital.
