  1. A big Congrats to you, leplast. Quite an achievement!
  2. Congrats, appliKant. That's a hell of a program to get into. Well done!
  3. I wondered the same thing. I too think that we may still be in the running for the University grants mentioned in the email several weeks ago. The fellowship is strictly merit based, where I think the University grant is both need and merit. My understanding is that nothing else was required on our end beyond ensuring GW received our FAFSA. I guess its wait and see at this point
  4. Just got an email several minutes ago from Elliott school regarding with an offer for admission and details on a fellowship award. Nothing on the applyyourself site yet. It also mentioned that I should receive a hard copy admissions packet by next week.
  5. Does anyone know if the yield percentage represented in the much discussed enrollment data incorporates deferments or if it only pertains to students offered admissions during that year's cycle? There may be no way of knowing, but I think it makes a big difference in terms of our chances of getting off the wait list. If the 66% yield does not incorporate the deferrals then the numbers look bleak. However, if the 66% yield incorporates the deferrals then there may actually be a chance that several people get off the list. Probably not worth over analyzing, but fun (i.e. stress-inducing) to think about.
  6. decisionsihope - I'm fairly sure that SAIS is making a concerted effort to provide both our admissions decision and any $$ info at the same time. I believe they mentioned this at the info session I went to last month.
  7. firefly85 -- This happened to me as well about a month ago. I talked to the tech guys and they figured it out without much work. As ashes75 suggested, probably worth at least a call for your own peace of mind.
  8. I called this afternoon (oh how they must hate those calls!) and the very helpful individual on the line indicated that SAIS will be sending out snail mail letters "by the end of the month". I asked about email notification and she confirmed that some people may receive electronic notification in addition to the hard copy letter. Still a big vague, but at least this gives me some justification for continuing to check my email non-stop.
  9. I assume you all saw the recent email from the Elliott school. Damn, no more prognosticating about when we may hear. So boring! "Elliott School graduate admission decisions will be available online on Friday, March 20. To access this information please log in to your online application. Decision letters are being mailed this week."
  10. clayvos -- Thanks for the information and best of luck!
  11. Cornell07-- I agree that there has been some confusion regarding Georgetown applications. Thanks for setting up this thread. I think it'll get some traffic as we hear back. I'm with you on the easily confused bit, but I'll raise you with: easily confused AND indecisive I also applied (and got accepted to) their MBA program. Right now, unless I get off the WWS waitlist or SAIS comes through with significant funding (improbably), I'll be a Hoya. Anybody else apply to other random programs?
  12. spottedtoad - thanks for the information. Sorry to hear about your dilemma. No easy decisions, that's for sure! It helps to know that you applied to the MPP program. Perhaps the MPA waitlisters will get some similar information with the next round of communication. Did the FAQ describe the selection process off the waitlist? I'm curious if candidates are ranked or if they review the entire pool in order to match applications with specific openings. Thanks again!
  13. Within int'l development, it's surprisingly well respected. That said, I think its fair to say that most employers agree that SAIS is probably a step above due to its strong emphasis on economics. Of course it depends on what you want to focus on, but altogether I think SIS' reputation in DC is solid. It also has a good sized alumni base that stays in the area. Strong PMF placement. I can't speak to the public policy side of things.
  14. Interesting, I got waitlisted as well and got a letter in the mail on Saturday with a slightly revised version of the letter that was emailed. It was more personalized, but no FAQ. Spottedtoad - do you mind sharing?
  15. I believe we all received the same email yesterday from SAIS regarding timing: "Thank you again for your interest in SAIS. We are currently finalizing our admission and financial aid decisions, and we will make every effort to notify you as soon as possible. Decisions will be communicated via postal mail, and we plan to send out notifications on or before March 20th." Based on last year's posts on here as well as on autoadmit, it seems that accepted students do receive an email before the hard copy acceptance arrives. Do you think we can expect the same this year? I really hope so, since I'll be out of the country for three weeks for work and would REALLY like to know before I come back. Having a friend check my mail is a bit anticlimactic!
  16. I'm with you on MSFS. I was struck by the fact that I received no email from them indicating that my application was complete or when to expect a decision. I don't think its worth reading into, but I do wonder if they've gotten hit, along with most other schools out there, with an increase in apps this years. That said, they've been pretty consistent about only throwing one date out there: April 1. In an email from early January about an online chat re MSFS they mentioned: "Our target date to mail out all decision letters is April 1st"

  18. I assume everybody else got the same admissions update from SAIS: "Thank you again for your interest in SAIS. We are currently finalizing our admission and financial aid decisions, and we will make every effort to notify you as soon as possible. Decisions will be communicated via postal mail, and we plan to send out notifications on or before March 20th." This is in line with what was communicated during the applicant information sessions over the past few months.
  19. Oh but freaking out is so much more fun than waiting patiently!
  20. Cornell07 - any idea based on past years when the MSFS emails have gone out?
  21. Linden - I totally understand where you're coming from and I can relate in many ways. I too got farther than I ever thought and like you said, it almost makes it all the more frustrating. I'm also not optimistic that they'll take many from the wait list and even less optimistic that there will be a sweet financial aid at the end of the rainbow for waitlisters. That said, I don't think the document you referred to really gives us much to go on. It's impossible to tell what percentage of the admitted and accepted numbers are from the wait list vs. first round. But I agree, that the numbers in general look bleak and the yield is undoubtedly high.
  22. So as we wait for the correspondence from WWS concerning the wait list, it'd be interested in discussion our chances. Clearly just waiting for the email would be too boring! Any idea how the wait list works? I presume that they would fill the spots based on one's field of concentration. For example, if a field I candidate decides to take another offer, then presumably they would look through the (ranked?) wait list for a field I replacement in order to keep the concentrations somewhat even? You think it's fair to assume that it'll be tougher to get into field II (idev) since financial aid is harder to come by at IR programs compared to MPA programs? At this point, I'm not assuming many of us will get off the wait list, but it'll be interesting to see how it pans out! I wonder if we'll hear before summer...
  23. Jakels6 - As far as I know nobody has heard anything from MSFS yet, I believe the other posters are referring to the public policy program.
