It was me. The decision has very much impacted my ability to function at work for the rest of the day...

Just to be clear, these are two different rankings systems. The 2007 data ("The View from the Ivory Tower") is from the College of William & Mary's IR center (#tribepride), and the 2011 data ("Inside the Ivory Tower") is from Foreign Policy magazine. Not to say anything about either system other than that they're not directly related methodologically.

Did anyone else apply to the Yale MA in Russian and European Studies? (I'm admittedly going the Western/Central Europe route, so I don't quite fit in with this thread.) I'm hoping we'll hear back soon.
-
Officially in at Georgetown SFS's MA in German and European Studies!

Re: your signature block, did you find out that you're a Pickering finalist? The e-mail we got seemed so say they won't be announcing the finalists until the end of March. Also, I can only assume that they didn't intend to make visible the whole addressee list hahaha.
-
Just heard from Rangel. Not a finalist. Fingers crossed for Pickering!
-
1. Harvard MES 2. Yale European Studies 3. Fletcher MALD 4. Georgetown MAGES (Only some of them are "Government Affairs" programs.)
-
I'm in the masters group, too! I applied to mostly Euro programs, but I applied to Harvard's MES program because of its emphasis on the Maghreb and France.

The Fletcher MALD Thread Spring/Fall 2012
FSOJN replied to Clay Made's topic in Government Affairs Forum
I didn't. I already graduated from undergrad, so I didn't qualify. I did apply for Pickering and Rangel, though. VERY anxious to hear back about those. -

Deferred here, too. But being fresh out of undergrad with no work experience and having majored in music and French lit, I feel pretty good about it hahahaha. I assume they just look at your application with the rest of them at adcom meetings throughout February. I will probably make some effort to reach out to professors or give a more detailed update about what I'm doing right now. More information can't hurt! -

The Fletcher MALD Thread Spring/Fall 2012

I don't know if anyone else reads the Fletcher admissions blog, but an admissions officer wrote the following about when we should be hearing back: So "more than a week before the end of the month" should be on track with what we had estimated. -

Waiting so patiently. The Fletcher admissions office has been pretty good so far which has made the whole process pain-free. I had some transcript problems and had to update them about a change in employment, and they always responded quickly and relatively helpfully. We should probably know by this time in two weeks! -

Yeah I looked back in the forum and it looks like accepts, deferrals, and rejections all heard back around the same time. That's crazy. Less than a month turnaround! Could be a great early Christmas present. -

Oh wow, really? People heard back that early? That's crazy! I am admittedly very green in this process, having only gone through the law school process last year. So, excuse my lack of understanding, but do people all hear back around the same time, or is generally based on a candidate's application strength? -

FSOJN replied to Clay Made's topic in Government Affairs Forum
So is anyone else applying early? My MALD application is basically done. I'm just waiting on one more LOR, and then I will be gladly hitting the submit button (and not so gladly forking over $70). -
Oops. I mixed up the date I took the GRE with the date I took the Foreign Service Test. I took the GRE on August 30. Sorry for the confusion!
-
I took the test on October 4. Verbal Estimate: 750-800 Actual Verbal: 167 (98th percentile) Quantitative Estimate: 700-800 (I think) Actual Quantitative: 165 (93rd percentile) Actual Writing: 6.0 (99th percentile) I'm pretty pleased, but I wish my quant score were a little better. I would be thrilled with the scores if I were applying to a humanities program, but since I'm trying to do IR, I'm wishing it were in the same area as my other two.
