How funny, I keep thinking about going back to music (just for fun, not professionally or anything) too.

CONGRATS!

Ack now I'm freaking out since I didn't get an email from Tyler! I'm going to assume it's because I applied for painting. *deep breath* Yes, definitely. My work has taken a completely new/unexpected direction, too. I think I'm trying to feel like I'm in control of something.

Rolling admissions acceptance- want decision in a week!

They cannot legally make you decide before April 15th. http://www.cgsnet.org/Default.aspx?tabid=102&ctl=InstSearchResult&mid=437&TYPE=REGION&VALUE=NORTHEAST -
I'm also applying to UNT! Doesn't seem like many people are, not sure why...

ucsb said a few times on their website that they want you to contact professors during/before the application process. I just emailed to introduce myself and reiterate my interest in the program and her work, i didn't ask for any results info. she just responded by telling me i wasn't accepted etc.

well, i got an email from jane callister letting me know i was rejected. they accepted 1 painter this year and had 7 spots.

yes i also would have loved to visit but it wasn't financially feasible

Has anyone gotten in or rejected or anything from UCSB? I know I'm being obsessive but I can't help it. Last year I know people heard back 1 week after the deadline, but this year they were on vacation that week, and just got back this week. Anyway...anyone?

I'm in the post bacc at Brandeis (in Waltham, right outside Boston) and it's AMAZING. Very well regarded. Feel free to PM me

For future applicants: Yale doesn't allow you to get a fee waiver. The School of Art (different from the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, which lets you waive) hasn't let anyone use a fee waiver since the 70s.

Well, I just submitted my app to UCSB and am 98% finished with Yale's...still sort of terrified though.
-
I'm applying to UCSB and they want you to write a short description of each piece you submit for your portfolio. I have no idea what I'm supposed to say in this short description. What should I do?
-
It depends on the school. Search around the admissions website (for the graduate school itself) and you can usually find information on it. I tend to search "admission fee waiver" in the search bar within the school's website to see what I can find. Some don't have any information on it, in which case I'd just email the head of graduate admissions.

is this the general climate at claremont? that there is no assumption you will do anything worthwhile with your degree? -

For some reason your art reminds me of Dan Lam's. He's going to ASU, might want to check it out. dannlam.com

Does anyone have any info on Burren that isn't on the website? It's my top choice and I'm kind of obsessed with it. I love how small it is and the community it has. Here's a link to my art (hasn't been updated in a while, my new art is better but I lost my memory card): rebeccastandig.com Is Burren a good fit for the art I'm doing? Any other schools I should look at? Thanks in advance!
