  1. Many Congratulations on your acceptance!!! I spoke with a guy named Patrick there and he said that they will start mailing the decisions by April 20th.. I am still waiting to get mine. Did they mention anything about the funding in the letter?
  2. I tried using both the options and mentioned the name of the other school where I got an offer, also I told them how interested I am in their program. It helped to some extent and they offered me some additional aid. I sent one email to the director of Financial aid and a separate email to the department head. You can try bargaining using both the options, also ask them about TA or other work opportunities while studying. I am sure they will be happy to help you.
  3. Got a rejection via snail mail for painting program. Still waiting for the Post Bacc decision..
  4. I called their admissions office two weeks back and they told me they will be sending the letters within a week, but there is no news.
  5. I am wondering the same. As I guess there is a good chance of getting some support on financial needs from public schools as compared to private schools. I applied to private schools myself and I am still waiting to hear back on scholarship from them. One of the school has offered me to join their BFA program with $8500 per year, which is again not enough, though I am not considering that option. if I don't hear anything on the funding where I got admitted then probably I will re-apply next year to more of state Univ.
  6. I have been working with a software firm from last 4.5 years and it will be an emotional meltdown to leave frds and colleagues who have become a part of daily life now. But I am sure they alll will und. as m finally doing what I really love and where my heart is. Though I am yet to disclose about my new venture to my boss, as I am waiting to hear back about funding from one of the school.
  7. Can anyone throw some insight on what kind of questions were asked during your interview. I am freaking out as this is my first Interview and being from a Non Art background, not sure what and how to prepare. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
  8. I too saw the saw the same difference and it says MFA Painting and Drawing fall 2012 in my slideroom. Though i didn't interview for MFA being an Intl student. But I do have an interview coming Friday for Post bacc.
  9. Yes the pool of applicant is more every year and competition is tough and another drawback being an Intl. student will be funds as NY is very expensive plus NYAA doesn't give good grants to Intl. applicants, but still I'l be happy to apply next time again to get there.. I was jus trying to explore my options and see if PAFA was a good alternate as I haven't visited any schools there so I am solely relying on this forum and the feedback.
  10. I am a figurative artist. I applied to NYAA, SAIC and SFAI other than PAFA. NYAA was my top choice but received a rejection on 3/1.
  11. Susan-Thanks for your response. I am interested in schools which focus more on Contemporary Figurative art and drawing techniques... and that is why applied to PAFA, but after seeing the amount of expense I will have to incur I am considering of applying to more schools with good funding next year. This time I applied to NYAA, SAIC, SFAI and PAFA.
  12. Outwest - I am located in India. Are there any other options like teaching assistanships etc.. which might be of little help in taking care of my livelihood there.... if I plan to attend this school. Also do have any clue on how is this school... even if i take loans and plan to study here.. will it be worth spending so much for an MFA from this school / or should I take chance and reapply next year?
  13. Yay!!!! Got Accepted to PAFA via snail mail!!!!! but with equal to no scholarship. I am an International student and 33K per year plus living expenses will be a huge expense for me. Is it worth accruing so much debt for PAFA, or would reapplying next year be a better option? Any suggestions on how the school is and if burying myself in debt would be worth for PAFA are welcome. I have to reply to them by April 15th.
