  1. Hello, I'm applying to PhD programs in Biophysics/Biochemistry...I have decent research experience but my GPA is a little low (3.3). All the programs require a General GRE (640V, 800Q, 5.5) but most of them say that a subject GRE is optional. I took the GRE chemistry and got a 810 (80 percentile) and was wondering if I should submit that score, or if it will hurt my application since its worse than my general GRE. Thanks for the advice.
  2. What worked for me was I wrote up some details about what I did with this person and what I would like this person to discuss, and then I gave that information to a friend. This way someone else is still writing your letter of recommendation so you wont have that self bragging awkwardness
  3. Hello, Do I need to send transcripts for community colleges for graduate school application? I graduated from a UC but prior to my UC attendance and after my graduation, I have taken a few community college classes for interest and some for relevance to my studies. I have classes at 5 different community colleges, would it be necessary to send transcipts for each to all my grad schools or just maybe the ones with relevant courses? Darwin
  4. I highly recommend using Interfolio if at all possible. I would say it's reasonable for them to send it to under 10 if you prepare everything. Generally, paper versions require less work since they don have to fill out online forms.
  5. Hi, I been out of school for two years but I am now applying back to PhD programs in biochemistry. I asked a professor whose lab I worked in (at the end of my Undergrad years) for a letter of recommendation and he said he can write a "very brief but positive" letter if I liked. Should I accept the offer? Will the fact that the letter is brief hurt me significantly? In case of reputation, he is probably one of the most well known professors in the field...hence adding to my dilemma. My other LOR if relevant are probably going to be my work supervisor since graduate and an assistant professor I worked with. Let me know what you all think, THanks Darwin
